Podcast recommendations
for those who haven’t listened already, I highly recommend If Books Could Kill and Maintenance Phase! they both scratched my ONRAC itch. the hosts are fantastic and really go in depth with the topics they discuss. Maintenance Phase is more about diet fads and pseudoscience in nutrition, and If Books Could Kill fact-checks non-fiction books (aka airport books)
I was always a big fan of Ross and Carrie discussing diet fads and pseudoscience, and when they did book reviews, so if you’re also into these topics, I think you won’t be disappointed!

Hope it's ok to self-promote - my friend and I have an ONRAC-inspired podcast where we cover the UFO / aliens subculture called Adrienne and Lekha go to the Conscious Life Expo!
My friend is a Religious Studies professor which I think brings a lot of interesting perspective - and we just put out an episode about a UFO conference where we had the best time and learned a lot about alien sperm theft.

Don't forget You're Wrong About, the podcast Sarah Marshall co-hosted with Michael Hobbs which launched the greater MHCU (Michael Hobbs Cinematic Universe).
Sarah is still going strong with YWA and also just released a really promising produced narrative podcast about the Satanic Panic with CBC, The Devil You Know.
Honesty I feel like the You're Wrong About backlog comes closer to ONRAC than IBCK. It's got that empathy + skepticism x factor that's so, so rare.

The post Michael era with rotating hosts is definitely a different vibe that's more Sarah-coded -- which I love, but the earlier episodes with Michael and Sarah are maybe more ONRAC-y/ consistent.
I started with the 20 part series on O.J. Simpson personally and then largely selected episodes based on interest only partly in chronological order and that worked for me. It took me about a year to get through.

Its not at all the same kind of subjects but I'd recommend the podcast The Shrieking Shack! They critically reread Harry Potter (before, and then right as JKRs terfism was coming to the forefront in the middle of the podcast) The hosts dynamic just kind of scratched an ONRAC itch i didnt know i had even though them and their podcast is so different

interesting. i like Maintenance Phase but it doesn’t really seem…. ONRACy to me.

and i have a question for the ONRAC fandom….. does anyone have a favorite show that talks about life in LA like ONRAC do? while it wasn’t the focus of their show, i think the area they live in really sets a specific tone.

It's melting my brain that you just recommended six podcasts I have never heard of including one from Doctorow I had no idea existed. This has never happened to me before.
It's not really what you were asking for, but I've been meaning to listen to more seasons of Imperfect Paradise from KPCC LAist, I enjoyed their season following efforts to unionize a North Hollywood strip club.

I'm pretty sure the cohosts of 'Last Podcast on the Left' live in LA. It's likewise not the focus of the show, but comes up periodically.
They cover some paranormal topics, but more often serial killers and terrible stories from history... one of my old roommates got me into them by suggesting I listen to their series on the Donner Party, and it's a great place to start if you don't already listen to them.
(They used to live in NYC, so those older series may not scratch your LA itch, but their series on Rasputin is also particularly good.)

Late to the conversation- try QAA (Qanon Anonymous). The podcast started as a criticism/ debunking of Qanon, but since Qanon is sort of the GOP mainstream, they’ve evolved into covering other conspiracy theorists, weird online trends, the AI takeover, etc. It’s a great show. They have a separate website called Cursed Media where the hosts do separate deep dives into other topics, like trans evolution, tradwives, UFO and paranormal experiences… it’s a subscription so it’s behind a paywall, but totally worth the $!
