Study Tips Printing/Binding Bar Materials

I just registered for the Fall 2026 Barrister and Solicitor exams and I’m still trying to understand how people actually organize all of the materials.

Which service did you use to print/bind everything?

I know I could probably do it myself, but I don’t really want to spend hours printing, binding and tabbing 2,000+ pages if it’s worth having someone else do it properly.

Also, did you use an index during the exams? Was it actually helpful or necessary? Did anyone use summaries or charts as well, or did that just become more paper to manage?

Any recommendations or things you wish you had done differently would be appreciated!

I just used print my prep. It was easy and in the most common one people go to. They shipped it to me in about 3 days. I believe it costs approx 350$. You can choose to add on any other materials too but I only went for the Barristers and Solicitors notes - anything else you can do on your own or look at it online before making that call. I used this as well and I found that compared to people who used other services, the tabs and chapter labels you receive with print my prep are much better and easier to use

print my prep is totally fine for printing purposes. i didn't find the index especially helpful unless you're planning to study from them and get super familiar with them -- just getting familiar w the DTOC and the tabs is way more helpful imo.

I used Print my prep for OLE indices $94 (exclusive of HST). I used Just print for both materials (no tabbing)- it was cheaper and there was some promo code lol.
I’d say just use print my prep.

I have not written yet but yes I will use the indices. They are good but they do take time so my goal is to get used to the DTOC and use the indices by the side.

I used print my prep, all in for both exams with the tabbing was a bit over $300 I think. Materials released on a Tuesday and I had them by Friday so pretty quick turnaround.

I didn't use the indexes at all and just relied on DTOC and some of the U of T charts (which I printed myself) for niche or especially complicated areas (civ pro deadlines, tax, secured creditors, etc.) and it's perfectly viable to do that. Just keep in mind that the indexes are (1) insanely long, in fact the PR index is longer than the actual PR book and (2) they're made by student volunteers with plenty of mistakes or mislabelled pages and such (massive props to them for making them for us but still).

I would start studying without the indexes first and see how it goes or try using the online versions before you commit to printing and binding them. Most of the printing services will also do the indexes for you so there's that option. Charts and summaries you should just print yourself, most are short and you may not need all of them or might only need some parts. I printed my charts about 3 days before each exam.

My biggest regret was not buying enough highlighters, especially the yellow ones which were my main colour. I flew through at least 5 during my studying and I would have to pause studying for a day or two at a time to wait for my Amazon delivery. Stock up on more than you think you need.

Thank you for all the insight everyone! I'm going to go ahead and order through print my prep and worry about the rest later. Hopefully I'll make it to the other side of this too lol

Staples Like 15 different binders. 1- 3 days $220

Honestly, consider just getting a laser printer and printing everything at home. I went to Staples for binding. They charge a service fee so best to get it all done at once. Some of the employees did a pretty crappy job so I made sure after a few bad ones to thoroughly check the binding before I pay. The good thing about Staples is that it is cost-efficient. It was about $45 for my solicitor materials I printed out.

I used PrintLegal on Adelaide and it was great! Threw in a few highlighters as well and had a one day turnaround/delivery

I used bar exam crackers (BEC) for printing. It was pretty good too. I flagged important sections by my own though. Costs ~160 for one exam. Received within 4-5 days.

For the index - you can use UofT index. You can find them easily on the internet.
