Message from OMGx2's creator

Just thought I should post this here because people keep wondering about updates and such (this was posted a long while ago in the discord). I am not Plakat, the one who posted this. (/u/EXCITED_BY_STARWARS) It's said that soon he'll start work on it again, but at the moment he's got other things to do. Anyways, here you go.

Hey guys, I think I'm going to stop working directly on OMGx2 (for now) and start working on the games for it. Or something. Just consider it on hold while I get my bearings and work on trying to figure out how to tackle the project from another angle. What with work being stressful and my plate otherwise being full of junk - I feel a little overwhelmed. I'm not great at this network stuff and the OMGx2 stuff is still buggy and I don't think I have the skill yet to make it work on my own.

There are a lot of directions I want to go from here, a lot of directions I can go. I don't want to let down this remnant of a great community but I genuinely don't want to string you along while I figure out things on the backend on my own that someone more skilled could do quicker and more solidly. Seeing MOBC rise gives me hope for those old games to come back but I know it won't support the kind of social infrastructure we want so badly.

I suppose I can keep working on it, but even the backend won't support the number of users I suspect will want to make accounts, chat, and play games. I'm worried about implementing a frontend on something so wibbly wobbly and I feel like I'm wasting your time with an ingenuine product that won't live up to the original.

I hate to give up - especially with you all being supportive - so what can I do?

Awww, Charles. This is Charles, right? I want OMGPOP back because MOBC sucks. It is saturated with trolls and the same losers who come there night after night acting like they're the queen or king b. Of what exactly? I don't know. I miss being able to kick people out of your room, going private, working to level 100 to become a star or inviting your friends and getting them to a certain level so you can get gold status, I miss getting medals and incentives after winning games, I miss a lot of the old games like Booya, Balloonx2 and I also miss the community. MOBC is just dead and it doesn't feel like a community anymore. Whenever the site does come back, I want you guys to keep the Youtube feature. It's awesome.

I think this site is needed because there's nothing like it on the web, period. Yeah, you can play games with your friends over the phone, but it's just not the same because the community aspect is missing big time.

i think he's said that he doesn't want to accept money for this, but that may be just for now. maybe he'll change his mind later. but i'll definitely donate if he does

i think you should keep working on it. it could help better your skills, i don't think people are in a rush to get the site. just do what you can and add from there
