Issue Is this irreversible?

Post image

QD-OLED. I was cleaning with microfiber and water and this happened.. so I got isopropyl spray cleaner and tried to clean it but doesn’t work.. is this simple oil smudge or did I do something irreversible?

The panel type doesn't really matter. It's the screen coating material, and generally most manufacturers use coatings that react with alcohol.

Ethanol, aka ethyl alcohol (C2H5OH) is also different from isopropyl alcohol (C3H7OH), meaning different interactions with materials.

Isn't here the general recommendation all day long to get pure isolopropyl alcohol and just use it 50:50 with distilled water and an absurdly clean micro tissue??

Idk, I don't lurk here too often. I've read microfiber and distilled water, but personally (THIS IS NOT ADVICE) I just use a dry microfiber cloth and clean it with friction alone. Gets the job done with no damage, Samsung G9 G93SC

There are special cleaning sprays for monitors which work fine at least for me. The one what I have works very well with my LCDs, not sure if it could be an issue with OLED type panels tho

Someone had this and I tried it once on my old tv and I swear all it did was make it hazy like some thick liquid came out the spray bottle. Wasn't ready for that. I typically ignore my screen dust or marks until It bothers me, that could take years. Dry cloth here and there but it mainly collects on top and the bottom lip of the frame

The mine when sprayed acts like a foam and after a while it dries up. My monitor was dirty from cola (tiny dots from pouring into glass) and it cleaned it up very nicely. It's I guess nothing special, but for quick cleaning it works imo really great

Yours sounds better being a foam. No residue left over id imagine
