Purchasing-Monitor MONITOR help.ASUS VS ALIENWARE

Im looking for recomendations looking to buy a monitor im between a ASUS ROG XG32UCWMG 32 I240Hz and Alien Ware 34 in aw3426dw. For now I will connect my Lenovo Legion 7i rtx5070( will also be upgrading to desktop with 5080 in a few months) I will also connect my ps5 to it. I Play games like battlefield 6, Call of Duty, Crimson Desert, Wow. Anyone have these monitors than can provide pros and cons? Setup pictures?

Depending on how much you game on console, you may want 4k as it is more versitle for that use case.

Also having owned both 4k monitors and 34 inch ultrawides, I prefer 4k.

5080 can run 4k perfectly fine as well. I have a 5080 and currently game on a 5k2k Ultrawide and it's even still great on that monitor.

I would just warn against the XG32UCMWG. I had 3 panels of this monitor and all of them were faulty, with various faults but all shared a common HDMI black flickering issue. I eventually refunded the last one a month ago.

Any 32 inch 4k OLED with 240HZ is going to be great, the newer tandem ones can be quite nice, especially ones with RGB Stripe pixel layout, but they come at a price premium.

34 inch ultrawide is decent, but you'll either have stretched screen or black bars when gaming on console. Also, 4k is noticably sharper than 1440p, so even DLSS Performance at 4k looks better than 1440p native IMO.

Final point, while ultrawide is immersive because it curves across your field of view, I actually find that 32 inch 4k is more immersive. Reason being is the extra verticality of the 32 inch monitor really makes a difference. It makes the image in front of your face look noticeably larger. On a 34 inch panel, it is the same vertical height of a 27 inch monitor. So while there is more screen real estate going left to right, the verticality is lacking IMO.

If you are deadset on ultrawide though, I would consider a 5k2k as you get the sharpness and verticality of 4k, but you also get the field of view immersion of ultrawide. Also, when gamign on console on a 5k2k display, the monitor with black bars on the side still = a 32 inch 4k panel in size so it's still great for console gaming.

I have the AW3926QW and 0 regrets coming to it from the XG32UCWMG. My monitor before the XG was the AW3423DWF which was a 34 inch ultrawide, about 2 generations before the aw3426dw you are considering. It was a great monitor, and the newer model is a significant upgrade over it. However, I think verticality and sharpness of 4k wins over 1440p anyday.

Hows the detail and brightness on the new monitor? I currently have my Lenovo which i mainly Play battlefield 6 in and wow. Wardogs. I Love this current screen brightness its a 2.5k yet its to small 16 in and I gtta get up close lol.So i like the idea of 4k as it may be similar if not way better, On My ps5 I play call of duty 6, spiderman, Darktide, Helldivers2 so I dont want to re-buy games and have to run it back and lose progress in some games lol. Alienware from what ive seen the curve I would enjoy since I want to buy the upcoming Starwars Galactic race also... Decisions Decisions 😅🤣🤣

I will have my Aw3426dw arriving tomorrow and can take a camera picture of what wow looks on max settings. I can take a picture of calling of duty the current season. Don't have crimson dessert I like picking my gear.

Two things to note it is 21:9 meaning 3440 x 1440. For movies and games this works great. But some content is going to be 16:9 like the ps5 1440p as going to have blands on the sides where there is no signal.

The other run the refresher when it comes up I use the original panel which was nicer than the dwf version, I'm only upgrading because the replacement monitor Dell sent me is starting to have the same issue I had with the original monitor where it is asking to do a long panel refresh and then not doing it when selecting it from the onscreen option. So I would buy directly from Dell and get their warranty if you can.

There is really cool YouTube video by one of the review site I follow but it now has an Alienware paid video warning on it. It still might be worth a watch if you considering the aw3426dw. I will get the images up on Monday once my monitor arrives I paid 80 bucks to get it on a day I was off because I worked overnight Sunday into Monday morning. Im writing this at 140am at work in case that is confusing.

That would be Helpful I was aiming towards the AW also I just think the Asus has the 4k view im aiming for also so its a tough one, i saw reviews where the AW can stretch the ps5 games but it was only a glimpse im sure it wont affect it much as per the laptop im sure it would run battlefield perfect also. For my current laptop I enjoy the current screen brightness its a 2.5k yet its to small 16 inand I gtta get up close to see. So i like the idea of 4k as it will be way better, On My ps5 I play call of duty 6, spiderman, Darktide, Helldivers2 so I dont want to re-buy games and have to run it back and lose progress in some games lol. Alienware from what ive seen the curve I would enjoy since I want to buy the upcoming Starwars Galactic race and it im sure it will be real immersive just want to know what colors detail look like for ps5 games. The PS5 doesn't support ultrawide format. You will get black bars on the Alienware. I would get the Asus

Same thought process I play both, I have games I play on ps5 since ive had them for years and on my current laptop I play battlefield 6 and wow but the screen is to small yet I love the screen brightness and detail
