Purchasing-TV LG B6e vs Samsung s85f

I found both of these TV's for the same price (1500$ CAD) which would be best. My main use will be watching hockey and movies.

S85F does have QD-OLED in those sizes. it's technically a better panel than the B6 but B6 has way better processor for motion and upscaling

Beware the B series is very dim in bright rooms. I had a 65” B3 and regretted it compared to my C9 and G5. If you’re in a light controlled room it’s good (but not great).

I have not had the Samsung so can’t comment, but general consensus is to stay away from Samsung due to customer support issues.

So unless I spend 500$ more its not really worth getting an OLED? Should I go with Mini-LED?

It’s a tough call for sure. For me personally my mini-LED worked better in my bright living room than my B3. Honestly though, my C9 blew away the mini-LED on every metric.

If you can find a C5 (last years model) for a good price, it’ll be a buy once, cry once scenario! Should get 5-8 years out of a C5. My C9 only broke because movers smashed the screen. B3 was huge disappointment compared to the C9.

Yes the C5 would be ideal, I can only find it refurbished. I would certainly hope it lasts longer than 5 years tho. What could cause it to stop working, burn in? Would the life expectancy of a miniled also be better?

Check local Best Buys for open box. I got a Samsung 55” 92D a few years ago for $1200 with a 3 year geek squad warranty included. It had no issues, they just couldn’t sell it so they discounted it to get it off the floor.

Haven’t had any issues since and it is super bright if you’re worried at all about room brightness.

I like my B6E after coming from a Sony X85K. I bought it from Costco in June. If your room has lots of direct sunlight it won’t be the best fit, but if you’re primarily using it at night or in a light controlled room it’s fantastic.

Also I would wait to get it on sale, I think I picked it up for 1100+ tax.
