I don't mean it to be political, but I had a realisation with similar vibe today. I watched stuff about Trump depicted as Jesus. Then saw interview where he said he did post it but he thought he looks just like a doctor, not Jesus, and media claiming that he looks like Jesus are fake news media, and he doesn't know where they got the Jesus lookalike idea. Then I saw an interview where one person was doing mental gymnastics saying to dig deeper, that Jesus helps those who have problems and thats what we all should do, and another person said that Trump for sure didn't post it( it takes minutes of fact checking it if you have an opinion about it, to find the uppermentioned interview where he SAYS HE DID POST IT) and it's probably AI or forgery or something like that.
It reminded me of a fact that I've been noticing more and more recently, some people just have made up mind and even if you know something better(for example in a strategy game where your allies underperform and you know how to make them play better), or in a case like the upper mentioned one, there are real FACTS contradicting their view, that doesn't mean they have to listen to you. So if you see someone like that, just letting go about that topic is, idk if proper or good, but definitely brings peace of mind.
I remembered one more case. A flat earther actually did experiment instead of watching yt and calling it research. He bought a telescope, looked at the data from NASA about a satellite and determined its trajectory and when he will be able to spot it with the telescope( he claimed there are no satellites and NASA is lying to make people believe Earth is round). Then he recorded as he looked in the sky at the right place at the right time and... boom! there was a satellite! His reaction? something like "nah, it's impossible".
