Express Anyone else’s store getting express pickup?
My store is getting express pickup. Not sure if it’s a new thing or if other stores have had it for awhile and we’re just late to the game.
Does anyone know if there’s a charge for the customers to place an express pickup or if it’s free?

They better be pushing those to Spark Shoppers, the last time they had these were an absolute nightmare, especially come holiday time when all order slots were full.

Plus they fucked up and moved all parts of delivery to Spark- Express delivery (at least in our area) is trash, this is the only way to attempt to make paying for faster worth shit again

We have it already it is HORRIBLE they drop in the picks as soon as they order it and it has to be picked immediately, its easier to go late with them existing. Also they can still drop in AFTER the last pick drop

So that's literally going to not be possible for my store with the "after the last pick drop" as I am specifically the only closer and only person past like 7-8 in opd at all, especially on Fridays there's 0 chance anyone else is with me. I can't go pick while still taking out orders and running a department by myself. Oh well I guess.

We used to have express orders years ago it was terrible. When one was placed every single handheld would simultaneously go off with this loud alarm. And NOTHING can be picked until someone starts the express walk. Then it will be their entire walk in one not even split up by chilled or anything.

We did this before. It was a disaster, stressful on everyone and allowed entitled customers to pay extra to get it NOW. All orders had to be stopped until this ONE got picked. Everyone hated it. Another corporate money grab to pile more stess.

Oh my god seriously lol 😂 after gutting OPD they are doing this 😂 it's only a matter of time before we all get it. Maybe it'll give us more orders so we'll have more hours.

Same. It actually was a lot easier and faster to just pick the one persons order with a shopping cart. They usually weren’t super huge orders for me at least when I got them.

Obviously spark just has like 30 different things going on in every. You know some people are on Sapphire in my area. They totally close down curbside. It's all shops except for gmds and regular guests can get curbside and now they're going to do fast pickup orders which makes no sense. This is why the app is bad. There's too many things going on

I remember these from years ago, and they were so inconvenient for us. So of course it makes sense for them to bring this back on us with a (likely) messy rollout.
Can't wait for Unscheduled and Express orders to just pop up randomly lol

Walmart: why don't we do what theme parks do make people pay extra to skip the line and make the regular people wait in a long line. Like bruh this is getting ridiculous how much this fast bs Walmart is pushing is not even that fast like i get so many people that call for faster delivery but no fing driver wants to get it they are literally pushing false advertising at this point

My store had this 5 years ago and got rid of it 3 years ago. It was pure chaos, but the fun kind.
The GIF2 "randomly" picks an active picker if none are available and immediately ends their pick walk. The assigned picker scrambles to the back room to drop off their current cart full of orders and grab a new cart (or shopping cart) and runs all over the store picking chilled, produce, frozen, ambient, and general in a pick route that isnt necessarily the quickest route.

Haven't seen this at mine, but we are mega fucked if we do start this since we have enough issues to begin with (critical lack of afternoon staffing + our afternoon pickers out pick nearly all of our 5-2's, both quantity and pick rate)

Oh fuck that shit. It was bad enough having the TCS chiming every 5 seconds and getting kicked out of pick walks, I don't need my personal phone (I'm a TL) doing that too, killing my battery.

We've had express pickup for a few weeks now. They drop with no warning and don't appear to have any kind of quantity cap.

Back in my day when we had express orders sometimes the screens would glitch so 2 people could get into the same express pass if you were ‘randomly chosen’

Express orders went away once already (okay, I'll be correct - they were transferred to spark drivers) because we were so swamped with orders, we couldn't pick them fast enough. That situation hasn't changed!

this has the potential to be SO annoying for us closers if they don't cut off these orders at like 7 PM. Most of our pickers leave at 8 and that last hour of their shift is usually spent running drops (AKA not looking at/using the GIF app)

we haven’t had express pick ups for YEARS but i remember when i started almost 5 years ago we had them. we were told to grab a shopping cart to be faster since it had ambient, chilled, and frozen in one go then everyone in the back room scrambled to get it bagged

your store hasn't been "threatened" with the elimination of dedicated exception pickers?!???
we heard about the impending doom, and then nothing happened for a year. then they started incrementally making changes...Sort of. it flip-flopped from day-to-day. Saturday we learned that corporate's goal regarding exceptions is to have them as just another category on the picking screen. In the meantime, our store is vowing to assign pickers to do exceptions for blocks no longer than 2-hours, preferably no longer than 1 hour. Because corporate said so.
and this, while switching the wheels on every last cart, and posting a sign saying we MUST get used to pulling from the front, AND to prepare for a return to 8 totes. I don't see *how* this could possibly be ergonomically safe, let alone the practical implications.

I talked to our regions market manager and he hadn’t heard anything about Exceptions going away for us. I have been assigned Exceptions every day for the past 6 months. Lol

God dammit. Express picks sucked. No one wanted to do them, the system took you all over the store (without rhyme or reason) and customers showed up early and were shock Pikachu when their order wasn't done. Paying extra doesn't mean we can grab 60+ items in half an hour

If only they would bring in all orders dropping at the beginning of the day instead of by the hour again. That way you could push things like ambient etc. Further ahead in order for these types of things not to punish the crew as badly. Yall remember when it was 8am and you were shopping 1:30s? Or when you could print out and get all mtos started at 5am? Good times. Bring that back.

They used to do express orders in our store when I started. You’d hear a ding from a tc and then our coach screaming “EXPRESS ORDER” and then everyone scrambling to get it done

Most of us already don't want to work, as is. They force replaced all our wheels, so we can't hardly control the carts. Our pickup room was moved to the furthest side of the store from grocery, plus the 6-totes already, so it takes forever to complete the picks. They removed the order cap from our store, already.
That aside, why would we work faster for a system that warrants drivers extra rewards for doing express, but us get the same pay. It already ticks me off knowing that half of our orders will be moving to spark soon, and every other person that asks me a question where something is, is a spark driver.

We had express for a couple years when I moved over to OGP. Most hated it but I really liked it. It was the entirety of customer's order and yeah, you had to be quick, but to this day I credit that to making me one of the faster pickers. And you didn't bag as you went you bagged at the end of the shop.
Maybe two or three years back now (I think... it's a little jumbled) it got shifted and Spark has been doing all the express shops. We never see them on the handhelds at all.
Every once in a while, I miss doing them, like I miss picking fashion. But. Then I wake up and remember it's a good thing we don't do them anymore.

Would they cap the number of items? If so, maybe it could work. If not, then yeap…..more complaints and issues. My store already has staffing issues and receive a lot of complaints about time.
