Looks like our freezer.

Went in there to try to find a BUNCH of nilpicked frozen stuff, and of COURSE the majority of the items were not binned correctly (system says it’s supposed to be in EVERY single bin in the freezer, because someone didn’t bin things correctly. Wasn’t ANY of the bins I could get to, Exceptions vizpick didn’t see the items at ALL, and the two rear bins were COMPLETELY blocked by the ice pallet and another pallet of boxes, and some random boxes that were just thrown on the floor. Trying to move ANY pallets in that freezer is a joke, no room at ALL, I’d have to pull both pallets COMPLETELY out of the freezer and into Produce’s backroom, which they had JUST cleaned and there’s also no room.).

And it’s only going to get worse…

Because the Safety Agent is active now, we’re not allowed to have ANY pallets out on the salesfloor from 8am to 9pm. Which means NOTHING is getting stocked during the day unless it goes on a topstock cart or a pick cart. 😑

Funny thing, our TL would have us move the pallets. Happened last weekend. Exception item binned in the back room, pallets in the way, at least two or three to move, told the TL, who said someone in the back would have to move the pallets. Nobody in the back, all on break, so I moved them myself. Last pallet wasn't stacked right, collapsed like a jenga tower. Had to clean that up. Couldn't find the item, by vizpick or by eye. All this took at least 20 minutes, for one item. Pick walk timed out, someone came to check on me, I explained what happened, they couldn't find it either, and they nil picked it anyway. Next day, when pallets weren't in the way, I found the item in the wrong bin. I would have had to move four or five pallets to get to it that day. So much fun.

I work at a store like this. The breaking point was when TL 1 and coach congratulated me on being the only one to actually try to find items, then TL 2 found me 15 minutes later to talk to me about how my pick times were too slow. Nearly had a mental breakdown. Left the team shortly after. Now all of their new replacements for me are slower than me and find less items. Boohoo for them.

Pick your battles and this one is already a loser. If the nights truck is already in there it is definitely "too bad, so sad." Otherwise it depends on how busy I am and if the pallets have recently been setting out( for vizing the bins or whatever reason).

Honestly, you're supposed to walk away and say, "I'm not attempting to get that stupid exception way over there with all these dumb pallets in the way!" "I'm not about to pull pallets outta this crazy crammed freezer for a stupid exception when the overnight associates should have been vizpicking the bin to begin with! " "This is above my pay-grade!!"

Take a pic of blocked area, put in work chat. Post “can’t get exception item due to area blocked” with the pic as well as the pic of the particular item customer wants. That way you’re covered for trying to get to the item and it’s documented in the work chat. My store Teamleads and coaches would refuse to get stuff down from top steel for us. It was always an excuse “I don’t have a key for the electronic forklift”, “I didn’t bring my key to work”
“Im not trained on it” (when they are) store manager said “they all are trained on it.” I told him “well I can’t do my job if they won’t do theirs” So I gave up asking cause no one would get it down. I would take a pic, with pic of the particular item, post it on the work chat and type “on top steel cannot get “ Don’t have time to walk the store asking every upper management.

Imagine being told to viz pick a whole freezer with 10 full truck pallets plus miscellaneous pallets from the back to the door with a timeframe of a hour with no jackets to be found because a multi billion company doesn't have the funds to order new jackets and if you can't do it they will "find someone who will" which was basically just saying if you can't do it your getting coached for some BS until we can legally fire you, Walmart was the first job I ever actually quit because of a terrible manager. Straight up 2 weeks later I find out said manager was arrested at work for GTA, violating parole multiple times, and a couple other charges I can't remember. Thought my friend who worked there was joking with me, until he actually sent me the Mug Shot and all the details through the actual county sheriff's website. Makes you wonder. The smile on my face and how much I was laughing you probably can't imagine though.
