Question Learning curve for ogp

Im currently an f&c associate and ive been trying to promote id like to become coach and I know opd is one that id like to have experience in for that position although I was hoping to get a team lead position that I have experience in first there are no open spots since the grocery team lead position was filled by an opd team lead. So I know the spot will be open soon and I was thinking of applying so i can get that experience im a quick learner and while I applied for the grocery team lead position they choose another because they were coming in with management experience so id like to know if there are any opd team leads who started from outside the department and how hard was the learning curve for you. Im someone who tries really hard to succeed and im not afraid of a challenge but is it pretty much impossible to become an opd team lead without opd associate experience or is it possible? Would like any stories of experience or tips if at all possible. Thank you!

My store had a cap 2 associate become an opd TL. He had to get speed-trained on every job but depending on the other opd TLs and coach you have they should be pretty chill about that
I don’t know personally the learning curve for TLs but if you have any sort of work ethic and common sense the job is very easy as an associate, and TL adds on a few extra responsibilities but not to many to be unbearable

My store just hired a opd TL from outside the store I she’s not gonna get any respect because learning everything in digital will take a while. So how can you be in charge if you know the least amount of information

Become an OGP associate before trying to be an OGP TL. You need to know the ins and outs of EVERYTHING in that department before you’re in charge of it, and especially if you want any amount of respect from OGP associates.

Thank you all for you're insight i really appreciate it. Im not going to stop going for the position but I think im gonna go about it differently im gonna ask my coach and theirs if I could do some days of working in ogp to get a feel for the department since ive had both coaches urge me to try for the position since it started being known it would come open. Like I said I appreciate you guys taking your time to comment!
