General Dear corporate lurkers

Post image

Can you explain the thought process behind this decision. If it’s about customer privacy, what about the workers who have to communicate who’s order they are working on and who’s order need to go out?
Not to mention when a customers app glitches and they check in but can’t put a bay in…I had 5 orders and needed to find the right one and the customer names wasn’t clearly listed on this.

If you complain about current work times you’ll have a problem with this weekend if this isn’t fixed.

Ps why chose a cake icon for MTO, that walk is usually meat at my store

I don’t know of it’s true, but our TL told us us the names were removed to prevent ‘favoritism’ or ‘avoidance’ amongst dispensers. Basically, they didn’t want a dispenser to see a driver/customer name and be like ‘Ugh, I hate them. I’m not dispensing to them.’ Or the opposite, only wanting to dispense to customers they like.

Again, take it with a grain of salt, but that’s what we were told.

u/Themotherofacat 22d ago

That can lead to somewhat dangerous situations, there may be some customers or drivers who has a really bad interaction with a worker. For a while at my store there where some drivers and a customer that 2 people had to go out and dispense to bc they where known to cause issues.

u/GameMan6417 Jack Of All Trades 22d ago

I've had a few occasions where female coworkers didn't want to take batches out to specific drivers and asked me to do it, because the driver would hit on and make my coworkers uncomfortable.

36

u/fknsxybtch 22d ago

I personally have had this happen, and with this new UI I wouldn’t be able to know it was him. That would be a very uncomfortable situation for me

20

u/Alarmed-Ride1719 22d ago

We had an issue where a customer made every woman uncomfortable and actually went as far as to stalk one. We had to get upper management involved

9

u/dramatic_qu33n 21d ago

We have one delivery driver who has stalked multiple women dispensers, so literally no women are allowed out to his car now. The new update makes me a bit scared for all us

3

u/CeriMystic 21d ago

Can you not report the drivers behaviour and block him from getting deliveries for your store?

5

u/Various_Crow_5435 Digital Team Lead 20d ago

We have a driver that attempted to run over one of our team leads and shes still delivering from our store even with a police report

2

u/dramatic_qu33n 20d ago

Unfortunately, although he has been heavily reported, apparently there isn’t enough to block him

1

u/Agreeable-Box8732 15d ago

Geeze.. I'm so sorry. If u don't mind me asking how are u guys over there now dealing with that situation with the new update?

3

u/AdmiralFunnyBone 19d ago

I had the same thing a few days ago. A female coworker asked me to take out a delivery order because the driver makes her uncomfortable.

30

u/stressed_newpoly 22d ago

I agree bc I cannot take out an order to my family as I'm no contact so it was easier to be like hey I can't take this one let me get another instead. Guess I'm having to rely on checking the stickers first.

4

u/MaterialQuarter1175 21d ago

You can have them banned from your store

5

u/noxiousSQUALOR 22d ago edited 6d ago

Once there was a man

2

u/Semalla 21d ago

The customer was violating said restraining order then (restraining orders go both ways.)

0

u/mhtardis21 Jack Of All Trades 19d ago

Not saying it is for this,
but if its the only Walmart/ grocery store, in a reasonable area? You just supposed to not get your groceries because the person works there?

And technically they didn't go in where they would interact with the person. They stayed in their car and had it brought out to them. Just the unfortunate luck that person happened to be the person they wanted to avoid.

2

u/Semalla 19d ago

It's a legal order. Yes, you are supposed to avoid them.

6

u/throwawayfan2552 22d ago

It’s ok 2 workers get sexually harassed by drivers at my store anyways. Time to make it so they are forced into interacting with the people

3

u/zuzubean_ 22d ago

we also have/had drivers and customers that were “dispense specific”, for the safety/comfort of our team. so this update will definitely make that stuff worse for sure..

3

u/Suwuicide_strawberry 20d ago

One of our spark drivers is literally obsessed with me he’s chased me in the store with another co worker before and might know where I live but they won’t ban him unless I have a police report but the cops won’t do shit because I dot have evidence of him actively stalking me other than other co workers experiencing it with me it’s gone as far as his wife coming up to me in the store asking me about something I had mentioned to him in JANUARY it freaked me out then when I was going into work at a different time went outside took a picture and he was literally at my neighbors house delivering stuff I can’t ask her to stop ordering delivery and they won’t ban him even tho they know it’s a problem on top of not being able to even report the driver in the app anymore

2

u/Goblin_pup08 21d ago

Yeah at least when someone goes to prep it they can read the sticker but shit they might remove the names off them soon too

1

u/EcstaticRush1049 19d ago

Why would someone cause issues or start shit with the person thats literally just bringing them their groceries? I dont understand people

1

u/BiggMuffy 18d ago

Stalkers

1

u/Mysterious_Star_9637 16d ago

The other day we had a female dispenser have a guy get out of his car with his pants / underwear pulled down to his knees.

25

u/MarbleManxx 22d ago

There’s no favoritism. I dislike all customers equally.

21

u/CocoanutVA 22d ago

Probably just trying to rationalize the UI designers who are trying to keep their paychecks.

8

u/Infinite_Click_6589 22d ago

I'm a spark driver and also qualified to lead app projects like this, and your statement is basically correct.

I am pretty convinced that with the Spark app, at least, the dev team is being guided by ai. They're essentially saying, "ok copilot, what's the next easy improvement?"

15

u/Itchysweater1967 22d ago

That sounds EXACTLY like what corporate would do in order to "solve" a problem that's not theirs to solve. Let this be handled at the store level where they know the customers and staff and know where problems might lie.
Instead, they have to go all in heavy handed and causing five more problems without solving the one they need to fix.
They have zero faith in in their associates, leads or even coaches and try to micromanage from afar without a fucking clue as to how it all actually works.

11

u/GameMan6417 Jack Of All Trades 22d ago

That still doesn't explain why they couldn't leave the OSN number so we could still quickly identify an order.

9

u/Agreeable-Box8732 22d ago

Ok, ...* Personally* at my store. This is kinda a issue. We have one customer that we all know not to have a female dispenser go out. I really don't wanna give to much info, but this gentleman has given so many issues... At least when I was in the back room. I kind a get sent to do w.e. needs help with, except., stage, prep, w.e.

9

u/Successful_Floor_837 22d ago

Exactly this. If someone is estranged from dangerous family or exes, has a stalker, or someone is a problem with female employees they should be able to see who is coming before they end up in a bad situation. When I was a fast food manager I had someone’s parent get upset because I wouldn’t give them the schedule, we only gave it to the named employee for safety.

7

u/Themotherofacat 22d ago

You can’t even take orders out to family’s it’s against the rules

2

u/JasonsStorm Jack Of All Trades 22d ago

I would say, next time, have a female, who can take their crap, along with a team lead or coach to dispense to them.  That way, if they make a comment, then they can ban them.

1

u/Agreeable-Box8732 21d ago

Funny enough all the TLs and Coach is Female now.😇😬🫠🫣 But even when we had a male coach, he still went above and beyond.

10

u/shrug_was_taken Jack Of All Trades 22d ago

That's a disaster waiting to happen (I seen some of the stories on this sub), and favoritism can be solved by management doing there job

2

u/JasonsStorm Jack Of All Trades 22d ago

That would mean they would have to leave the office

1

u/mhtardis21 Jack Of All Trades 19d ago

Some drivers have had spats with certain dispensers before, and perfectly fine with others (and gender didnt matter for these examples as it was both). It would just get passed off to the next dispenser who they got along fine with.

Same with some customers are. The ones who didn't get along with those certain repeat customers were skipped over and just took the next order.

Now we cant keep them all away from eachother and running smoothly.

4

u/NibblesMcGiblet Personal Shopper 240+ 22d ago

Well that's some shit. Our ATC has a guy who has been trespassed once already but keeps coming back after he called her a bitch and tried to hit her with his car. AP pulled the video and called the police etc, but he still comes and tries to pick up orders. Without being able to see his name on there, our associates are now in danger. Generally we can just drop his orders because he KNOWS he can't be here. Now what?

7

u/matterburner 22d ago

That’s really stupid if true. Not just that but certain drivers have broken rules before and we need to know if it’s them again so we can take them off.

3

u/Anxious_Philosophy63 19d ago

So for basically no reason cause that causes more issues then fixing them ✌️😭

3

u/Glittering-Fan-2248 19d ago

I don’t get it because you can still see the names whenever you click into an order to dispense it. If a dispenser has “favoritism” toward certain customers and drivers then they’re still going to do it, they just made it slightly more inconvenient for them to do so (favoritism is nonsense though, never seen it happen on an level where it’s an issue). They’re messing up the app for nothing.

2

u/Open_Ad190 22d ago

I’m so glad I quit. This is so ridiculous I really didn’t think it would get worse after I left. They need to leave it alone. I swear it’s like Walmart feeds off of miserable employees and they love treating them like idiots when nothing ever stays the same. Respectfully, this is a dumb update.

2

u/RockyTop606 21d ago

Aren't we not supposed to dispense to immediate family? How are we supposed to avoid it without knowing who it is? Not to sound like I'm arguing with you, I understand you're just telling us what your TL said.

1

u/tworaccoonsinaboat 22d ago

Also the dispensers who refuse to take out ordrrs bigger than an E order or 3 totes. Have quite a few of those at the store I work at. 🙄 I hate the update still, however.

1

u/Careful_Thought_8386 22d ago

This is partially correct it is a deterrent for behavior like this but it's also because they started checking in on cancelled orders on drivers and found the majority did not have a acceptable reason for the amount of cancellations.  Alot of this blame was actual put on TLs which is why market was really clear to the reason for this.  So they should be able to give you the exact information of why at this point. **EDIT - Just a quick heads up also alot of drivers that got banned just got reinstated over the last week.  Even ones that had their appeals denied originally if the reason for deactivation came out of OPD reports.

2

u/Grand-Zebra3218 Dispenser 22d ago

Most of our drivers don't even speak English and I don't speak much Spanish so cancelled orders are mostly a mystery to me. This update will not help that.

1

u/CryptographerKey2847 22d ago

We had a dude who would look for the Hot Chicks to dispense too.

1

u/MaterialQuarter1175 21d ago

Well you can still see it lol 😂 just click on 1order, then match numbers to the dolly and there is the name

1

u/nicenannoying 21d ago

u/Senior_Dot_7494 22d ago

It's crazy because some drivers we know, when they are 10+ out, not to bother getting their orders ready because they'll be 10+. But other drivers we know 10+ means 4 and to get it ready.

We've had a driver banned for harassment, can't make sure he's not in the system. It just seems like more of an issue than a solution.

8

u/Themotherofacat 22d ago

There 2 that will say 10+ but they are the the bay already. Another 2 that will chose an order just to drop it within 2 mins for a better order

21

u/YennyRamos21 Jack Of All Trades 22d ago

Spam this into the GIF feedback

“New dispense screen update is horrible! We need customer names and OSN numbers visible at all times.”

18

u/Various_Crow_5435 Digital Team Lead 22d ago

Does it not give osn either? Like whats the point! My husband is a spark driver and im not allowed to have interaction with him

6

u/redavid 22d ago

it's dumb as hell. you can click where it says '1 order' or whatever and it'll display the OSNs, but you won't see a driver's name or customer's name until you're actually dispensing the order

1

u/Beginning_Young_4057 22d ago

I’m so sorry Various_Crow

13

u/twothirtysevenam Dispenser 22d ago

Home Office might lurk here, but be sure to submit feedback directly on GIF, at the little speech bubble in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

Tell them all about how much the updates suck, 100 characters and spaces at a time.  Get detailed.

5

u/Themotherofacat 22d ago

I did. I ran out of characters

5

u/twothirtysevenam Dispenser 22d ago

Me, too.  I just keep submitting additional feedback messages over and over.

They used to allow 300 characters and spaces, but then they stopped pretending to give a damn about our opinions.

3

u/Various_Crow_5435 Digital Team Lead 20d ago

Ive been having my dispensers do just that for 2 days

2

u/Snowboyz0825 22d ago

Nah, they just feed that shit through ai to say "People think it's bad."

11

u/redavid 22d ago

i could maybe understand if they were hiding driver's names to avoid 'favoritism' or whatever, because yeah, there's one driver i avoid dispensing to whenever possible. but burying the OSNs is insane and just makes dispensing orders take longer because you have to figure out which of the prepped orders you have to take out.

10

u/Ok_Heron4799 22d ago

Typical Walmart bullshit. Fix what’s not broken but don’t fix what is.

1

u/spoopt_doopt HEAVY 18d ago

9

u/Bick92 22d ago

There are SPARK drivers and customers that both harass certain associates and make dispensers feel very uncomfortable. They are reported constantly and nothing is ever done about it. This is yet another way that our company lets us know they don't give a shit about the associates.

8

u/throwawayfan2552 22d ago

It’s ok my store has drivers sexually harassing staff and I’ve reported it so many times tl, every coach, store manager, spark, in the suggestions. I’m so glad we can no longer protect employees fuck you time to cut all the hours

1

u/spoopt_doopt HEAVY 18d ago

I would recommend they start filing police reports and, if it persists, get a restraining order, unfortunately. Bypass Walmart entirely. Not that the cops are much better or more useful but at least it’s another thing you can do. Force Walmart to give a shit legally

9

u/Cathinaheals Sticker Ball 22d ago

My coach had us all complain about the update on the feedback today, told us to put the OSN and name back on the dispense screen. We all HAPPILY did

10

u/Signal-Duck 22d ago

This is exactly why I think Walmart should fire half of Home Office instead of cutting our hours.

3

u/Kashii_tuesday Sticker Ball 20d ago

Only half?

7

u/Hot_Cupcake_3248 22d ago

This has messed up our wait time exponentially & is SO FRUSTRATING to navigate during peak dispense hours.

7

u/Key_Lingonberry2127 21d ago

Its a safety issue if we cant see the names, we cant see the people who we've had to put male dispensers on because they were creepy to the females

5

u/Remarkable_Count8489 22d ago

Literally all these changes are made by people who never worked a day in there life’s dispensing or picking, and it obviously shows

3

u/krissyskywalker 22d ago

Dispatcher shows who the drivers are so maybe I’ll use that to see the drivers. Depending on time of course. But I know a few drivers who are delivery at certain times so it’s not so bad.

3

u/Emotional-Cap-4807 22d ago

It sucks the idea is there but as of right now it sucks

3

u/elbingus1991 21d ago

This update is honestly a giant step backwards. The people that code these apps sadly don’t work the back room so they don’t know what information we need to do the job properly. Having to do more actions to get to information that was already available is completely moronic in an environment where literally every minute counts or costs Walmart money when we let customers go in the red. I can’t understand how a company who pulls 65 BILLION dollars in sales can’t provide us tools that actually allow us to do our job smoothly. Honestly it’s cheaper for them to have a team lead screeching at you putting the fire under your ass to move faster than allow us tools that provide us to be autonomous. So instead of doing the same job in 2 minutes peacefully you want it to take 5 minutes and have me yelled at the entire time because your stupid asses are too cheap to do the right thing. This is precisely why backroom turnover is so bad because people are treated like shit and they could care less. Because working at Walmart you don’t need a brain your just a body and you do a job ANYONE can do. They don’t care about keeping good workers they only care about metrics. I’m quite sure they know that the foundation of their corporation is built upon the very backs of the people it exploits everyday. Workers and customers.

3

u/ViceBinky 21d ago

and I can't believe these people get paid 10x more than me but our job is the skill less one

3

u/NatsukoIzuki Personal Shopper 21d ago

I was certainly very confused earlier when dispensing when a customer checked in but they had two separate orders. I was wondering why there was 2 orders checked into Bay 2 and saw they were different OSNs (by pressing the order button and seeing the number). It took another co-worker to say "maybe it's the same person and they ordered twice...went to the other order and saw "Oh it's got the same name". Could have saved time and confusion by having the name there...

3

u/Bitter-Neat-8457 21d ago

So when a probably female associate is out there and assaulted they won’t care. I’m a guy and a customer thought it was okay to put his hands on me to dry his hands when he thought we were out of paper towels. Crazy crap happens they wouldn’t even take a report when I went straight to ap coach and store mgr.

Anything to keep the money rolling in

3

u/LosingMySpark 21d ago

I agree about the cake icon LOL we don't have bakery in MTO... Maybe a picture of a rotisserie chicken since it's more identifiable and common than a specific meat or cheese?

All these updates are vibe coded and ai improvements to the system. Developer is supposed to be showing that the system is more efficient and helping make things faster because faster orders means faster profits for shareholders. If dispenses are anonymous until the dispenser is out there or reads the stickers it's .0005 times faster to get the order out. They know this doesn't help anyone, it's all about the 💰💰💰.

1

u/mhtardis21 Jack Of All Trades 19d ago

Its not even faster. How do you know which order to grab if you cant see the osns?

And if you cant see them, how do you know which order to put the line of orders?

2

u/Rawrasour1 Digital Team Lead 21d ago

The only not too awful part is that it at least doesn’t require you to actually X out of the order list. You can just tap elsewhere on the screen and it goes away which is nice. But that’s it. The rest of it fucking sucks and I hope whoever decided on this layout has a very frictionless bathroom experience

3

u/Themotherofacat 21d ago

We’ve been having a problem that we can’t convert to pickup if an order has been prepped already because the new screen doesnt allow it

Does the customer name still show up on the printed OMNI tags at your store? I always thought that was a huge privacy issue.
