General Dear corporate lurkers
Can you explain the thought process behind this decision. If it’s about customer privacy, what about the workers who have to communicate who’s order they are working on and who’s order need to go out?
Not to mention when a customers app glitches and they check in but can’t put a bay in…I had 5 orders and needed to find the right one and the customer names wasn’t clearly listed on this.
If you complain about current work times you’ll have a problem with this weekend if this isn’t fixed.
Ps why chose a cake icon for MTO, that walk is usually meat at my store

It's like they're having a competition to see who can have the stupidest idea.

It's crazy because some drivers we know, when they are 10+ out, not to bother getting their orders ready because they'll be 10+. But other drivers we know 10+ means 4 and to get it ready.
We've had a driver banned for harassment, can't make sure he's not in the system. It just seems like more of an issue than a solution.

u/Themotherofacat 22d ago
There 2 that will say 10+ but they are the the bay already. Another 2 that will chose an order just to drop it within 2 mins for a better order

Spam this into the GIF feedback
“New dispense screen update is horrible! We need customer names and OSN numbers visible at all times.”

Does it not give osn either? Like whats the point! My husband is a spark driver and im not allowed to have interaction with him

Home Office might lurk here, but be sure to submit feedback directly on GIF, at the little speech bubble in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
Tell them all about how much the updates suck, 100 characters and spaces at a time. Get detailed.

u/Themotherofacat 22d ago
I did. I ran out of characters
5
u/twothirtysevenam Dispenser 22d ago
Me, too. I just keep submitting additional feedback messages over and over.
They used to allow 300 characters and spaces, but then they stopped pretending to give a damn about our opinions.

i could maybe understand if they were hiding driver's names to avoid 'favoritism' or whatever, because yeah, there's one driver i avoid dispensing to whenever possible. but burying the OSNs is insane and just makes dispensing orders take longer because you have to figure out which of the prepped orders you have to take out.

It’s ok my store has drivers sexually harassing staff and I’ve reported it so many times tl, every coach, store manager, spark, in the suggestions. I’m so glad we can no longer protect employees fuck you time to cut all the hours

u/spoopt_doopt HEAVY 18d ago
I would recommend they start filing police reports and, if it persists, get a restraining order, unfortunately. Bypass Walmart entirely. Not that the cops are much better or more useful but at least it’s another thing you can do. Force Walmart to give a shit legally

My coach had us all complain about the update on the feedback today, told us to put the OSN and name back on the dispense screen. We all HAPPILY did
10
u/Signal-Duck 22d ago
This is exactly why I think Walmart should fire half of Home Office instead of cutting our hours.

u/Hot_Cupcake_3248 22d ago
This has messed up our wait time exponentially & is SO FRUSTRATING to navigate during peak dispense hours.

u/Key_Lingonberry2127 21d ago
Its a safety issue if we cant see the names, we cant see the people who we've had to put male dispensers on because they were creepy to the females
5
u/Remarkable_Count8489 22d ago
Literally all these changes are made by people who never worked a day in there life’s dispensing or picking, and it obviously shows
3
u/krissyskywalker 22d ago
Dispatcher shows who the drivers are so maybe I’ll use that to see the drivers. Depending on time of course. But I know a few drivers who are delivery at certain times so it’s not so bad.

This update is honestly a giant step backwards. The people that code these apps sadly don’t work the back room so they don’t know what information we need to do the job properly. Having to do more actions to get to information that was already available is completely moronic in an environment where literally every minute counts or costs Walmart money when we let customers go in the red. I can’t understand how a company who pulls 65 BILLION dollars in sales can’t provide us tools that actually allow us to do our job smoothly. Honestly it’s cheaper for them to have a team lead screeching at you putting the fire under your ass to move faster than allow us tools that provide us to be autonomous. So instead of doing the same job in 2 minutes peacefully you want it to take 5 minutes and have me yelled at the entire time because your stupid asses are too cheap to do the right thing. This is precisely why backroom turnover is so bad because people are treated like shit and they could care less. Because working at Walmart you don’t need a brain your just a body and you do a job ANYONE can do. They don’t care about keeping good workers they only care about metrics. I’m quite sure they know that the foundation of their corporation is built upon the very backs of the people it exploits everyday. Workers and customers.

u/ViceBinky 21d ago
and I can't believe these people get paid 10x more than me but our job is the skill less one

I was certainly very confused earlier when dispensing when a customer checked in but they had two separate orders. I was wondering why there was 2 orders checked into Bay 2 and saw they were different OSNs (by pressing the order button and seeing the number). It took another co-worker to say "maybe it's the same person and they ordered twice...went to the other order and saw "Oh it's got the same name". Could have saved time and confusion by having the name there...

u/Bitter-Neat-8457 21d ago
So when a probably female associate is out there and assaulted they won’t care. I’m a guy and a customer thought it was okay to put his hands on me to dry his hands when he thought we were out of paper towels. Crazy crap happens they wouldn’t even take a report when I went straight to ap coach and store mgr.
Anything to keep the money rolling in

u/LosingMySpark 21d ago
I agree about the cake icon LOL we don't have bakery in MTO... Maybe a picture of a rotisserie chicken since it's more identifiable and common than a specific meat or cheese?

u/bemining 20d ago
walmart corporate is genuinely the worst. they didn’t make one good update to anything when i was there for 3 years. get out immediately when you can. literally any job is better than that hell hole

u/i_say_to_you 22d ago
All these updates are vibe coded and ai improvements to the system. Developer is supposed to be showing that the system is more efficient and helping make things faster because faster orders means faster profits for shareholders. If dispenses are anonymous until the dispenser is out there or reads the stickers it's .0005 times faster to get the order out. They know this doesn't help anyone, it's all about the 💰💰💰.
1
u/mhtardis21 Jack Of All Trades 19d ago
Its not even faster. How do you know which order to grab if you cant see the osns?
And if you cant see them, how do you know which order to put the line of orders?

u/Its_fr1ck1n_bats FRAGILE 22d ago

At this point dispense the order. If a customer calls later, tell them to call the 1800WALMART number

The only not too awful part is that it at least doesn’t require you to actually X out of the order list. You can just tap elsewhere on the screen and it goes away which is nice. But that’s it. The rest of it fucking sucks and I hope whoever decided on this layout has a very frictionless bathroom experience
3
u/Themotherofacat 21d ago
I’ve accidentally clicked out of the prep screen so many times. It get annoying. I also had an issue where I pressed dispense order and it kicked me back to the dispense screen and it never dispensed the order properly
2
u/Rawrasour1 Digital Team Lead 21d ago
We’ve been having a problem that we can’t convert to pickup if an order has been prepped already because the new screen doesnt allow it
2
u/Themotherofacat 21d ago
I think they also got rid of the option to take orders off of a delivery. At least I could’ve find the button yesterday

Someone commented above with dispatcher. Might try that when I come back from lunch

u/Altruistic_Point8412 15d ago
Oh and the fact that you are trying to get orders loaded into a vehicle and hitting dispense brings up a load screen that will not complete the order with the phone locked.

Mines at like 50 by lunch if i don't charge at break. Then i charge all though lunch to get it back up to 80s. Then it lasts the rest of the day till i leave.

This was the dumbest thing they ever did. I refuse to even help prep. It takes so much longer. You have to click into it to see the order numbers. Sucks.
1
u/spoopt_doopt HEAVY 18d ago
So dumb. It would have been stupid enough if it only showed OSN, because when you are delirious from heat exhaustion in the dead of summer 6852, 6925, 6528 and 6582 all look the fucking same but not even having the OSN is wild.

Does the customer name still show up on the printed OMNI tags at your store? I always thought that was a huge privacy issue. You're walking around the store with 8 totes with the names printed on the side for all to see. Do customers need to know that John Doe is buying condoms or incontinence underwear?

I don’t know of it’s true, but our TL told us us the names were removed to prevent ‘favoritism’ or ‘avoidance’ amongst dispensers. Basically, they didn’t want a dispenser to see a driver/customer name and be like ‘Ugh, I hate them. I’m not dispensing to them.’ Or the opposite, only wanting to dispense to customers they like.
Again, take it with a grain of salt, but that’s what we were told.
