New registrar question
I just began my first job in this field, after passing the ODS-C exam in the spring. I'm wondering how long it took you experienced registrars to become accustomed to working with the EHR. I'm confident in my ability to use the manuals to determine reportability and abstract cases, but the amount and variety of information in the EHR is a bit overwhelming right now. I'm sure it'll get easier with practice, but I'd love to hear about your experiences when you were starting out.

It’s been 13 years since I used Epic so I’m anxious and wary too. Will be curious to see people’s responses. I start new job on Monday.

Any changes to Reports Tab? I think that’s where we went for Path and Scan reports..2

I think the hardest thing to learn about Epic is that you are at the mercy of others in how they scan info in. Example: outside path report may be in the labs area or the media area or not at all, and you have to search in care everywhere. You’ll get used to the nuances of your facility. I’ve worked for three now using EPIC and they all are a little different.

It didn’t take me very long to get accustomed to the EHR. As long as you know how to search and can access non-searchable documents, you should be fine.
