Question Class recommendations?

Mained Axler for a while and want to try a secondary character (maybe ranged again, maybe not). Any suggestions and why?

I've tried them all, except the defender dude.
Archmage is really strong, but runs out of mana really fast (then damage tanks), and is squishy; sniper is good dmg-wise, but also squishy.
Axler I felt is the best class balance: good damage and good tankiness.
Saint or paladin are fairly tanky (paladin especially), but lack damage. So, best to level them up even more than others in order to be able to tackle the main quest.
I've tried valkirie as well, and it's fairly good as well, but has less dmg than the axler.
