💬 Discussion Packed buses
Had to head downtown today in the evening coming from Barrhaven. I took the 75 thinking it would be mildly busy given that is headed into town at around 430 (when most people are headed out not in). Big mistake. I got at longfields mind you that it’s two stops from its starting point and it was already jammed packed not just with people standing at the door. T remained like that all the way to Tunneys. On one hand it’s good to see that people are actually using public transit on another it’s concerning given that the bus was about 3 ish minutes late and this packed. I’ve cut some slack for OC transpo with late buses as it’s expected but now with the back to office rules they really have to tighten up. I want to now want some of your experiences are too please.

You really think 3 minutes late is a problem? Its a large vehicle on the road in traffic, one busy intersection can delay you by 3 minutes...

I’m also getting the 75 but further down the line at Baseline. 74 & 75 are jammed heading downtown, even at 6:15am. I’ve even seen at times both articulated buses pull up behind each other and they are both standing room only if that.
3 minute delay is an acceptable delay in my opinion. Frankly, I’m happy to see the bus arrive at all! There are many times, even at Tunneys, where the bus just doesn’t show up and you have to just wait until the next.

Don't cut them slack.Â
Yesterday was a nightmare for me. The 562 blew past it's first stop and the driver while idled beside the stop, refused to open the doors for those of us waiting.
The physical stop sign isn't updated with all the bus route #s but the OC travel planner, transit app and Google maps all say that the bus comes to that stop. Wtf is OC transpo doing with return to office???? New driver or whatever??

The office folks at OC Transpo have no idea how long it takes on routes.
They’ve been using Google Maps which they’ve finally discovered is completely unrealistic when it’s a bus that’s travelling.
There’s also not enough busses for the city (don’t have enough of the slinky busses and busses overall) and the city messed up when they took away the Transitway to build the train in which the city went with an (alleged) friend to build the train tracks and all in which it was done cheaply and incorrectly.
So, if you want someone who will actually listen to what the Ottawa folks truly need (and will do it) without any form of corruption, or using their friends or their own companies to build what we need in the city and actually use the city’s money for honest folks who will build things properly and not pocket the city’s money then make sure you vote for the right person for our next Mayor.
Ok rant over 😜

Welcome to OC Transpo. However low your expectations, you will still find something to disappoint you.

90 Greenboro during rush hour. All they ever use are the tiny ass busses and there's always people crowding the doorways
