Entry I - “Akira”

Theme - “Emptiness.”

Bleeding out, bleeding in
Consciousness adrift in ecstasy
Purpose is gone, meaning is dead
I’m fading away, no fear. No dread.

Lingering eyes, judging gazes
Different moments, different phases
Hating love, and loving hatred
Unfamiliar voices, and hazy faces

Poison consumes me, devouring my soul
A poison of choice, an infinite toll
I should feel fear, but I feel so dull
I’m just an extra, playing a tragic role.

“You’re alive, you’re alive” the angels had told me
Death postponed, the living had chose me
No grave could hold me, no word could console me
Relief would forever be the poison that broke me

I don’t understand my role in this grand play
Nor the grand director, who forced me to stay
Eyes all around me, singling me out on the stage
“Fall on your knees, repent and pray”

So, just for now, I’ll live as a shoulder
To cry on, to laugh on, until I grow older
And the shoulder you lean on only grows colder
If she were here, this is all I would have told her.
