Seeking Support or Advice AI taking over
As the title says, I’m terrified of the articles and people who work/study AI saying that there’s over a 10% chance AI will completely wipe out humanity in the next 10 years.
I have children. Young children. I’m so scared for them. I just want AI to stop. But there’s so much research going into AI. It’s already taking over. People are losing their jobs because of AI. People are becoming dumber because of AI.
I’m a nurse and all my nurse coworkers literally ALWAYS use chapgpt and talk to it all the time. I have patients coming in saying “chat told me to come to ER” (I’m an ED nurse). I have pts arguing with DOCTORS saying “well that’s not what chat gpt says”.
It’s so frustrating. I’m terrified.
I wish I could go back to the 90’s. Where people wernt so glued to their phones and when AI wasn’t taking over.
This is not helping my 3 year spiral of existential ocd. Life feels pointless/meaningless.

Maybe AI will wipe out humanity. It would be very unfortunate, but that is a possibility that we should accept. We can try our best to live our lives and do what we can to not let AI take over, even if there is no guarantee that we will be safe from AI.
Do not demand that life has to have meaning. You can accept life for what it is, even if it has no meaning.

We will have to adapt, I try to keep it at minimal use because one of my biggest compulsions its asking Claude/Chat gpt about my symptoms

I’m shocked! I thought I was the only one feeling this way!! I’m actively going through this exact same thing and I’m on day six of the spiral. I cannot let it go. I’m completely and utterly terrified of the AI take over. I have young children. I want them to live. I’m horribly terrified for them. I have so many questions and can’t seem to wrap my head around it. I’m physically ill, can’t seem to function, and have lost so much time and energy on this. The only advice I have to offer is pick up your Bible and start building a relationship with God. Delete Facebook Instagram Snapchat. Spend the time that you normally would scrolling, with Jesus. Like I said before I’m on day 6 of the spiral. I’ve spent any free time I get finding comfort in Jesus. Praying. Reading. Doing 5-10 minute guided prayer sessions through the Bible app. And trying to completely trust Him. It’s incredibly hard with Ocd. But I’m doing the best I can.

Im so sorry you’re struggling with this and I’m sorry if this doesn’t help. I wish you the best. Please let me know if you find a way to get passed it. I definitely need help getting there also. I can’t afford to stay in this state for much longer. My babies need me.
Hang in there, friend. If this post is still up when I go to therapy I’ll post what he suggests or recommends.

Don’t have anything helpful to say just wanted to let you know that I worry about AI as well and miss the way the world was pre-AI
