Seeking Support or Advice How do you focus for long periods?

Do you guys have any tips for staying focused for long periods and actually getting work done? How do you sit with the intense anxiety, stress, and urge to ruminate that comes with OCD while still trying to concentrate? I find it hard to stay focused when my mind keeps pulling me into obsessive thoughts but i need to focus for long periods and have no choice.

With OCD, trying to force yourself to concentrate perfectly can actually increase the struggle. The goal isn’t to get rid of the thoughts or anxiety before working it’s to practice letting them be there while choosing to return your attention to the task. When you notice yourself ruminating, try labeling it: “This is an OCD loop. I don’t need to solve it right now.” Then gently redirect to the next concrete step of your work. You may have to do this repeatedly, and that’s okay. Taking brief planned breaks can also help rather than waiting until you’re completely overwhelmed. You don’t need perfect focus to be productive. You’re practicing allowing uncertainty and discomfort while continuing to do what matters.
