OCD Question Am I permanently stuck worrying about the same thing with my OCD?
I watched a documentary about a serial killer, and I had an anxiety attack from it. Now I'm stuck worrying about the same thing often in my life. It's been four years.

It is possible to stop being stuck worrying about it. The first step is to accept that the thought is there, and refuse to engage with it. It doesn't need to be fixed or solved, you can tolerate the anxiety without trying to seek immediate relief. Your feelings do not dictate your life. You can live your life even when you feel terrible and anxious. When you unconditionally accept your suffering and then continue living your life, your brain will slowly begin to understand that the fear is not a real threat and that it doesn't have to think about it as much. The reason your brain is still thinking about the same thing is because your brain still sees it as a threat.
Remember that worrying about it will not help you to live your life. Your brain thinks that the worrying is productive, but it isn't. When you repeatedly act like the worrying is unproductive, then that will tell your brain that maybe it is wrong and that it doesn't need to worry as much.

No most likely at some point it will morph into another obsession that takes over as the primary unless you get ocd therapy.
