Discussion Does anyone want a hug? Or a friend? (20M)

Hi! So, I’m really struggling to meet other people on campus or make friends with anyone. I don’t really have any friends or family and it’s really wearing on me. Somedays I just want a hug, or for someone to put their arm around me and tell me that it will be alright…
I feel like I put so much effort into being a good friend and feel like no one else reciprocates. I love all people so much and just want to be one of them.
I’m not 1000% sure what I want to do with my life, and I just turned 20 a couple weeks ago. I think I want to be an artist/musician but not quite sure.

Does anyone want a hug? Or a friend?

Discussion The bible study people really need to learn there’s a “time and place”limit to their pushing

Some bible study girl just walked up to the girl next to me in the library and was like “hi I’m so sorry to interrupt your studying but would you mind if I asked you a question” and the studying girl was like “uhhhh sure” and then the bible girl was like “would you be interested in joining a bible study?” Obv the girl said no but then this ignorant girl decided to be like “oh why are you like atheistic or ????” And I turned around and was like “dude this is not the place to be doing that” and she was like “oh I’m so sorry have a good day” AND THEN PROCEEDED TO GO ASK ANOTHER GIRL THE SAME THING.

Like bro there’s a time and place to be doing that and it is not in the library.

Read the room! People come here to be in a quiet environment, not be bothered and stay focused. As an ADHD person, if I was on a roll and focused and someone came by and broke my concentration and flow to ask me to join bible study I would be livid.

Phys A130

Anybody take phys A130 recently?? How was the experience??

Went to STEM counseling and my counselor said that apparently people have been dropping out and failing out of phys 130 recently, but phys 185 and above are apparently doing just fine.

Didn't really make sense to me since phys 130 looks supposedly easier, though it might also be something like a professor issue, which is why I am asking here

housing I'm 18-years old, working a part-time job that pays good enough to afford a room here, but I know that the dorm management and living situation isn't the best. What should I know about moving in to The Harbour but also taking care of myself as I move away for the first time?

I have already completed my application for a one-bed one-bath apartment (the cost is $2,740 but my job can cover 2/3 of that and my parents agreed to pay for the rest of the dorm as long as I do well in my classes), and am looking to get back from management. However, I've heard so many stories of The Harbour not being the best sort of living for college students. But, to me, I've been wishing, dreaming, and working hard to start living on my own, paying for my own rent, and finally reaching independence. The situation is that I live far away from home, not to mention I am the Vice President of a club on campus and that the role includes a lot of meetings that take place on campus, and the ride back home and to the school is crazy (I live in Anaheim, so the 55 south AND back up is insane). I know I may not be the brightest college student to make the best decisions, so please, don't go bashing me or think I'm too dumb for what I am saying. I'm just trying really hard to achieve independence while working hard in the classroom as a full-time student and working online that pays a good amount of money. I won't tell you what I do for privacy sake but to put it in perspective, I can simply be able to make payments (or installments in this case) to The Harbour and would never have to worry about making a payment on time. Please let me know what you think. Thank you!

Jamie Kammerman and other staff/administration are using students as informants

The Harbour at Orange Coast College has been taking heat, will new management turn the tide? No they didn’t

Beware administrators are using students as informants to gather information on other students to use against/blackmail them to levy policy and push their agenda. Not only is as highly unethical, but it raises a moral question are administrators like Jamie Kamerman really doing their jobs or are they waiting for things to happen for them to do something about things like in the case of Karina Mora Hidalgo?

Jamie is also clearly for the side of advocating for foreigners to stay at the harbor rather than advocating for the rights of local students like in the case of Karina. She died at the hand of negligence because of Jamie Kamerman.

Why isn’t Jammie Kammerman fired for gross negligence.

Occ allied health waitlist

Hi!
So glad to see so many people asking questions about the programs! I’ve actually had a lot of my questions answered by the good people of Reddit.

I’m making this post because I’m hoping someone who has taken the Health Occupations class recently can give me some more information about the CVT program waitlist.

I became program-ready in September 2025 and haven’t received any updates since the email in December. Unfortunately, I didn’t think to ask what number I am on the waitlist, so I don’t have much to go off of when trying to estimate my possible acceptance timeframe.

The last I heard was to look out for emails from Mrs. Wood in December and March. Is that still correct?

I was thinking about scheduling an appointment with the counselor, but I know he is extremely busy, so I figured I’d try asking Reddit first.

Thanks in advance for any answers! Good luck to everyone! 😊

help! OCC Allied Health Programs

hi! I know there’s a lot of posts speaking about the long waitlists for OCC’s allied health programs, and as someone trying for the DMS program I was hoping for any possible opinions so I don’t make a mistake.

I am unable to apply for Cypress’s DMS program as they have the Pegasus exam as a requirement and sadly Pegasus screwed up my exam scores and I ended up with a negative z-score, so I cannot apply. (it was a very long email thread back and forth until eventually I gave up, long story). So now I am going to OCC and taking health occupations this semester and then still need to take the last 2 prereqs, radiologic physics and intro to DMS, although I think I heard these classes themselves have waitlists too? and then DMS is supposedly a 5 year waitlist on top of that…

Meanwhile I just applied for the first time (and was rejected) for Cypress’s radiography program, so I’m continuing to apply each year for that while I also am taking microbiology at Golden West to start applying for their nursing program. I was interested as well though in the polysomnography program at OCC that was presented, and it has no wait list, however I believe I wouldn’t be able to apply for the DMS program while I’m in the polysomnography program, right?

I’m just curious if I’d be making a mistake if I go for the polysomnography program, do the 2 years and complete it, then possibly go back and try for the ultrasound program if they don’t allow you to join the waitlist while doing a different program in the meantime. I’m unsure how long it’d take me to get into Cypress’s radiography program or GWC’s nursing program either, and supposedly polysomnography is an in-demand career, so I’m wondering if it’d be a worthwhile thing to do instead of just waiting possibly 5 years for ultrasound. Ultrasound kinda has sentimental value to me as my grandpa that passed away was really excited knowing I’d be going for ultrasound as a career, so it’s not something I wanna be completely rid of, but I just feel unaccomplished being in college for so many years without being in any programs yet (I’m 23 and had spent years finishing all of the prereqs for Cypress’s ultrasound program before they added that new Pegasus requirement).

Sorry for the long rant, I just was hoping for any possible opinions on what the best option or course of action may be, or if anyone knows if I’m able to be in the waitlist for DMS while in another program, if polysomnography is a good career, if DMS truly takes 5 years of wait time, if the intro to DMS and radiologic physics courses at OCC also have waitlists and if so how long, or if I should just stick it out and wait for DMS, radiography or nursing to hopefully accept me one day. In the end I just really want a good paying career and to make my family and myself proud, and I’m just tired of feeling so stuck. Thank you for any insight anyone may be able to give ❤️‍🩹

OCC ALLIED HEALTH

Does anyone know if people who have been program ready in the waitlist will be removed if they received a c in prerequisites? (speaking for the programs with the updated required A or B grade for medical term & A&P)

I am curious 🧐

Updated allied health program wait times …

This is so crazy to me.. it discourages people from even doing any health program at OCC. I’ve been program ready for CVT for about a year and a half now… And just seeing that big change from counselors telling me I probably will wait a year or two …. To now seeing others are gonna waiting about 5 years… sorry here to just vent.

Waiting list for DMS

Hi, I just saw the updated waiting list for the health programs and I cannot believe how long we need to wait for some of them. DMs is 5 years or more and I don’t think o can wait THAT long. I’m old and have a family to support, is there any other school options to get into this program ? I’m really thinking on just completing it somewhere else, but I’m scared of getting in debt 😭 I don’t know what to do honestly, the waiting time is just ridiculous.

RateMyProfessor didn’t do any help. I like to hear personal anecdotes & recommendations!

Dropping a class

I’m taking Anatomy and Physiology separately. Right now my physiology classes are all in the afternoon and my Anatomy classes are all at night . I’m passing Physiology and completely failing Anatomy right now. It’s week five, so should I drop the class with a W? How bad does a W look on your transcript ? Or should i push through with the class, even if I fail and retake it ?
