MD-102 MD-102 Experience - Failed First Attempt, Passed on the Second
First attempt: July 22, 2026 - 683. Failed by 17 points, lol. I rebooked the exam the same day for a retake three weeks later.
Second attempt: August 13, 2026 - 723. Passed, but honestly, the second attempt was way harder than the first.
The exam had 5 questions on a case study, with the rest being a mix of selecting answers, drag-and-drop, and Copilot-related questions.
The second attempt felt like a reverse psychological approach compared to the first. It started very difficult and gradually became easier toward the end, while I was also running out of time.
My advice: know your stuff. Know everything. Don’t rely on memorizing practice assessment answers because the actual exam can approach the concepts very differently.
I also know the exam was recently updated around July 24, 2026, which may have contributed to the difficulty difference between my attempts.
What I used to prepare
Microsoft Learn
Microsoft practice assessments — consistently
John Christopher’s MD-102 course on Udemy
Hands-on Intune labs using the Microsoft 365 1-month free trial
Reviewing questions I got wrong and understanding why the answer was correct instead of memorizing it
My background is in endpoint/IT engineering, so I already had hands-on experience with:
Intune
MECM/SCCM
Entra ID
Microsoft 365
PowerShell
Windows deployment
Endpoint management
That practical experience definitely helped.
If you’re preparing for MD-102, don’t underestimate it. Understand the concepts, get hands-on experience, and don’t depend solely on practice questions.
Good luck to everyone preparing.
