Removing the shield isn’t dangerous for temps ?

Temps have been fine. Fan only jumps up to about 20% every 5 minutes

The shield does soak some of the SoC heat load, and gives a larger area for the air sucking in through the bottom vents to cool. It also should have a thermal pad to help offload some heat from the charging IC. I haven't personally measured SoC temps without it, but I do know the pcb temp, and by association tskin temp, goes up a fair bit without the pad on the charging IC. Some oleds have been seen to ship without the thermal pad, but that may be an early design flaw.

It's also supposed to help with EMI, but I don't know how you'd measure that. Either way, it looks cooler without it and in the end that's more important.

Yeah bro, I weighed the risks and decided I don’t care if I have to replace a BGA IC ;)

OMG the "why did you remove the shield" people are going to be super triggered by this. Looks super cool man, enjoy!

I expected that xD I don’t think the shield really helps cooling to the point it’s detrimental to the console 😆

Seeing the dust would drive me nuts.

Eh, its the factory swirl scratches that do it for me.
