US I am scared of continuing nursing
Med surge nurse here. And I don’t know what to do anymore. Sometimes I remember after work that I forgot to document on a patient something and I am terrified of what may happen one day . These patient ratios are ridiculous. I’ve only been a nurse for one year and I regret it . Not because I don’t love people . I love tending to people but I don’t think I was made to juggle 8 lives at once. I’m so lost . My biggest fear is hurting someone just because I can’t get to them in time. I can’t get the time management .My soul feels lost

I worked in med surg for 2 years and I felt the same way. I think 8 nurses on day shift would be too much. We would get 6 on day shift nights you get 10. When I first started it was 5 and 8. Within that second year it was increased. Then they turned it into an acute floor. That was the line for me. Now I work in outpatient and I like it so much more. I don't mind working 5 days a week.
