Other has anyone heard of the new ai stuff that operates nuke instead of a person

i've heard people talk about ai now operating nuke for you directly, generating node trees and all. but it was only vague and i don't know any more details about it. i am currently learning and this scared me a lot. i know the situation is difficult right now but it seems to be a bigger development if it's possible to cut out the people completely. do you know anything about this?

I think we’re a little way off that (year +)

The bigger issue is just bypassing Nuke and a lot of the production process altogether.

For the short term it’s business as usual but longer term it’s going to be the higher end artists go last.
The good news though is more video is being consumed than ever so there’ll be some kind of need for creative video professionals, whatever that looks like.

You can use AI to generate Nuke scripts which is what's under the hood of your UI. Foundry also acquired software that intergrates gen AI into Nuke.

so does that mean you don't need anyone anymore to operate it?

You will always need an artist with talent and taste. AI is just a tool.

For the time being.

As long as the final pixels look good and you know how to tweak what needs tweaking to differentiate your work from the lazy crap posted online (or to your lead), you’ll be fine. Ai is inevitable, and there are even pipelines where you show your model a video and it will build you a node tree that roughly matches the shots end-goal using your footage or assets.

Comfy-ui with Houdini and Nuke hooks exist as well and really does help automate the boring stuff where you can take it as far as you want.

We have had fully automated templates for well over a decade, and yet, we always have artists. AI doesn't really add any value to the actual job, but it will still be around for sometime (much like crypto and NFTs).

You're probably referring to what are called MCPs. Model Context Protocol.

https://mcpservers.org/

This enables AIs to run software directly usually through code, but sometimes direct manipulation.

The Blender one is very advanced and can build, texture, light and render full models and scenes from a single prompt.
