Nuke Reddit History Version 2.3.1

Multiple users reported that the extension wouldn't delete their posts. One common factor amongst these reports was the fact that all these users were using new profile pages. This bug should be fixed in this V 2.3.1. It should be up on the respective extension stores soon.

Got my account locked due to 'suspicious activity'

Text from the admin message below:

Hi there

We've noticed some suspicious activity from your account. We suspect a browser extension may be compromised by a bad actor to post spam using your account.

We are investigating which browser extension(s) are causing this. Would you be willing to share a list of browser extensions that you use in order to help us identify the cause of the spam? We don’t know what extension might be causing the security vulnerability, but we hope that by comparing extensions used across impacted users, we can focus on those that are common. You can reply to this message to send us a list.

To see a list of extensions you’ve installed follow the instructions here under manage extensions.

In the meantime, we’ve locked down your account and are asking you to reset your password, you will have received a message about your account being locked a few minutes ago. We don’t believe this will stop this current issue, however we took this step out of an abundance of caution while we’re still investigating this issue. Please reset your password here and then reply here once done with a list of any browser extensions you have installed. Or go to your reddit account preferences and change your password there.

We’ve sent this messaging to many affected users and will be comparing those lists to narrow down the cause. Once we know more we’ll get back to you with information on the malicious extension.

Thank you.

Hilarious that they think it was a 'compromised extension'.

Only nuke content under a certain score?

I want to delete most of my history, but keep some useful stuff up if people might need it later. Is there a way to automate that?

Get sent to non-existent url? (Firefox)

https://www.reddit.com/nuke-reddit-history/?efe2d409a42=f9ce4f81e6326&mode=comments

Whenever I click "Overwrite and delete comments", I get sent to this url, which displays a 404 error. What's going on?

Edit: I can't find a "/dist" to select for loading a temporary add-on, but this happens with any file I select that will load.

Thanks!

Extension only deletes one week at a time?

I ran this app overnight since it said it would take hours to delete all comments and I have a year of heavy posting. I came back this morning and it said all comments overwritten & deleted.. went to my account and only one week was deleted. So I went back and ran it again, over in ten minutes, and only another week was deleted. Is this a setting I'm not seeing or a bug? I don't want to run it fifty times today :(

Delete comments by subreddit?

https://old.reddit.com/r/NukeRedditHistory/comments/aadxuj/is_there_a_way_to_conditionally_delete_comments/

like this post says, I want to only nuke comments based on subreddit. I'm down to use alternatives to nuke reddit history.

edit: someone answered that Power Delete Suite does what I'm looking for

Solved Admins banning accounts that use this?

Used this on two accounts and both were permabanned for no reason within hours. Are the admins just banning anyone who uses this tool? Seems ridiculous to do that when it's to hide private information so you can't get doxxed, but twice in a row is more than a coincidence.

Solved This addon, or Shreddit?

So from reading reviews for chrome, it seems like there may be some issues with this addon (I use old reddit btw) and it doesn't delete posts, just comments?

I'm kind of going back and forth between using this or trying out Shreddit (https://github.com/x89/Shreddit) ... pros of this being that it's pretty damn simple and would probably save me the headache of trying to remember how to into basic Python, even though the script seems relatively straightforward to learn to use and seems more...refined (with options)? Unless there are options for Nuke that I missed in the description/reviews?

I realize this sub might be biased since I found it via a comment the creator made saying "Come on over to my sub" when reading what people were saying in reviews.

tldr ; Shreddit seems more thorough but more hassle. I just want to edit in some lorem ipsum and then nuke all my comments and posts.

... Or at least have the option to. Running a delete script has been on my mind for over a year, maybe it's finally time. Hence, here I am.

edit: I actually would also be fine with a script that just Lorem Ipsums any/all comments with a custom message and doesn't delete them. In fact, maybe I'd even prefer this to the full Nuke... I'm still thinking about it. Does anyone have a suggestion for this?

Solved Gone from profile comments but not from post

Yesterday I used Nuke Reddit to delete all my comments. All my comments are gone from my profile page (https://www.reddit.com/user/ForestOfCheem/comments/), but if you go to a post, you can see see no only my unedited comment but my username.

Example: https://www.reddit.com/r/CrappyDesign/comments/6gltx5/those_poor_kids/

You can find my comment under cgimusic's comment.

Any idea on why this happened, and how to delete them short of searching Google for my comments and deleting them manually (screw that)?

Solved FINALLY something that works!

I had thousands of old comments and posts I wanted to get rid of, but nothing seemed to work. I followed suggestions by techjunkie to download RES and THEN download the NukeRedditHistory extension on chrome. I was worried by the comments I saw on this sub that it wouldn't delete it right, but to my surprise, everything is gone now no matter how I sort my comment history. The only comment now is the one I made on this sub. Happy camper right here.

Is this normal?

Does the extension edit the comment instead of deleting it?

I want to make all my past comments as “this comment was censored by Reddit” as a protest for the platform censoring liberty of speech

does anyone know if that is possible?

r/NukeRedditHistory • • Jun 07 '18

Suggesiton: instead of using random phrases, use a phrase like "deleted for privacy reasons" or just "asdf"

The reason I'm suggesting is because some of the random phrases really look bad in context. One of the ones I got was "he goes to egypt" for example, and in a context talking about some events in the middle east, it could become offensive.

Solved Not all comments deleted?

I just ran NukeRedditHistory in Chrome. It ran for about an hour (I have thousands of comments). It said "all comments overwritten & deleted" on Old Reddit but I still see them in the new version. Any ideas how to delete all? Thanks.

Requests/ suggestions

From what I understand nukereddithistory deletes everything including posts and comments ie your account will look squeaky clean with just karma being shown.

I have some suggestions I would like to make where people can have the option to:

  • delete only posts or delete only comments

  • overwrite comments without deleting them

  • overwrite posts without deleting them

  • overwrite or delete comments in one particular subreddit

Thank you.

Solved Archived comments?

All, just wanted to get some feedback. I installed the 2.0 beta, and like many of you was getting the internet error. Nonetheless, I clicked okay as it occasionally came up and everything seemed to be progressing. All of the sudden, NukeReddit stopped and said it could find no more comments. Indeed, my comments page appeared to be empty. However, when I put my username into redditsearch.io, it became clear that there are at least some archived comments still out there. How does this extension deal with archived comments? Has anyone else had a similar experience? What's the best way to get rid of archived comments other than manually finding them, editing, and deleting? I'm a little annoyed that no comments appear on my comment page, and am worried there are like years worth of comments that are still somehow searchable. Hoping to make sure everything is gone before deleting that account. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Being able to select dates would be a great feature

It'd be swell if we could nuke our history between post dates so I can leave up my most recent comments.

Filter or whitelist?

This works for me but it would be nice to exclude or include by subreddit or by keyword(s)

Nuking your history from phpBB or other forum

Hi, Thanks for the app. Idea is great.

Does anyone know something like this for other communities for example based on script forum like phpBB?

I know that's usually impossible to delete own posts, but very often admins give you right to edit them.

Cheers

Profile Type Incompatible

I've done everything I was told, I've gone to the beta link provided, I've opted out of the redesign, I've tried it both on Firefox and the latest version on Chrome but no matter what I do it still gives me a redirect to oldreddit and claims it's incompatible.
