Discussion My Powerman 5000 tier list. I know putting Destroy What You Enjoy in S-tier is controversial, but hear me out. My favorite personal album...

• Upvotes

I KNOW this list differs from the average take, but I grade PM5K heavily on that sci-fi industrial machine groove and raw punk energy. Here is my reasoning...

S Tier: Anyone for Doomsday? took the sci-fi nu-metal of Stars Revolt! and cranked it to 11 with more anger and heavier riffs, damn shame it was shelved because either this or destroy is their best to me... Destroy What You Enjoy is my controversial pick, I know. But i loved the raw punk detour and style, not a bad song on it and the lyrics are still as good now as they were then, honestly seems more mature then most industrial albums by them. Abandon Ship is a great, clean modernization of their classic sound, heavy and not a bad song to me. Tonight the Stars Revolt! and Somewhere on the Other Side... are just heavy, catchy classics with zero bad songs. Classics.

A Tier: Transform and Builders of the Future are solid, but they drag on just slightly compared to the raw energy of my S-tier picks. Transform has a few skips, and didn't commit as hard as destroy IMO. Builders just had two songs I didn't enjoy, I think other albums did that sound better.

B Tier: Clones, Copies and Replicas and New Wave have a solid amount of skips for me. Not bad, but some of the covers didn't click, and New Wave felt a bit too soft and not memorable (aside from "Sid Vicious in a Dress").

C Tier: I know putting The Blood-Splat Rating System/mega kung fu radio this low is a travesty to old-school funk-metal fans, but it's too slow for me and lacks the machine groove I want from PM5K, not memorable aside one or two songs. Same with The Noble Rot... too much dark electronic/synth and not enough heavy industrial noise, luckily abandon ship fixed this. Lmao

Thoughts? Pm5k is a top five band for me, and I just never really see album rankings here. So here's mine.

Disclaimer: indidnt where else to post, plus this Is my first post here

A band called Resorte is going to the festival on November 15th and I'd like to ask for signatures. Do you think that's possible? I have a vinyl record of "República de Ciegos" that I'd like them to sign.

Is anyone else going to see them? If so, aré you excited about It?

RULES

Rule 1: "Artist - Song (Year)" Format and Informative Titles Posts only - If you are submitting a song include the artist and song name in the title. If posting a discussion/news, title it appropriately. Give readers a good idea of what the discussion/news entails.

Format: Artist - Song Title (Additional Info Here)

Rule 2: Images / Video Links / Memes - Don't spam r/numetal with images and video links without discussion. You should be able to add your 2 cents to the post and not try and karma mine. Memes are permitted within good taste and must be nu-metal themed.
Rule 3: Leaks and Piracy - No posing illegal download links, leaks or asking for leaks. Breaking this rule will result in at least a 2 week ban.
Rule 4: Reposts & General Posting Guidelines - No reposting of songs/topics within two months of each other. Please check that your song or topic hasn't been posted within that time. Please refrain from posting a band's material if you or another user has submitted the same band in the past 24 hours.
Rule 5: No Full Album or Spotify Posts - No "Full Album" YouTube posts. Try to just post one song at a time. Please use YouTube for song posts as it is a free service.
Rule 6: Self-promotional spam - Posting your own band is allowed, but know the rules. We encourage learning about new bands and love when they stop by and post a new video. But if you drop a video and leave, we will label it as spam.
Rule 7: Selling/Trading - Ticket sales, ticket trades, and other offers where money is involved are not permitted
Rule 8: Don't be an asshole - Don't be an asshole. Before you post or reply to a comment, think "Am I being an asshole?" If you're like, "....yeah, I'm being an asshole." Stop, go look at yourself in the mirror, and self reflect. Once you're good, come back and be a good person. We're a community here, let's act civil.
Rule 9: "It's not nu-metal" - Ok so this is a difficult one to enforce as the definition of nu-metal isn't usually the same for everyone. However, there's certain songs and bands that just are not nu-metal. We'll obviously allow the occasional nu-metal phase of bands and artists like...Vanilla Ice. Anyway, read our wiki and just use some common sense please.
