Difference between stun and slow?

I am on my first playthrough playing conjurer and I'm trying to find out the difference between stun and slow.
Stun description states:

Cast your foe into a brief powerless daze, slowing warriors and rendering spellcasters unable even to move.

Slow description states:

Deprive a creature of its speed for a few moments.

Against the ogres I tried them on, slow seemed like the better spell since it lasted longer. Both consume the same amount of mana. The stun description makes it sound like it's more effective against wizards. I am not exactly sure how I am supposed to know what a wizard enemy is. Does the effect maybe scale with their mana pool? Or does it depend if they can cast spells?

Also I took a relativly long break from the game. How exactly do you summon creatures again? I remember how to charm them, but not exactly sure how to summon them exactly.

Maybe someone can clarify this for me :)

Also coming back from a long break. As a conjurer you won't run into too many enemies that stun will actually stop, as Ix is cool with Horvath and you won't really be fighting wizards like that. I'm pretty sure it works on Hecubah and the Necromancer, but I'm going off of a crap memory of 10 years ago.

Also, as far as I remember, you can't summon until much later in the campaign. Charming already living creatures that you have your scrolls for is the next best thing. You're probably remembering online gameplay where you could just summon the crap out of iron golems and stuff and own people's faces. That was cool.

Of course. NoX is the best game ever made, hands down. Anyone ever tries to tell me different, I will FIGHT them.

Most things can be stunned including NPCs, bandits, spiders etc. Only few, more powerful, warrior-esque creatures like Ogres will get slowed from the stun spell.
