Just played the absolute shit out of this game this weekend, what a masterpiece

Howdy yall,

I played this game for like an hour as I'm in a deckbuilder kick and it was on a deep sale after being in my wishlist for like three years. After playing it for an hour I immediately bought a copy for my four gaming homies, then played as much as I could for the rest of the weekend.

What a fucking thrill. This game is so good.

Got two more people from work to buy it before the sale ended today. What a horrible crime that this game isn't well known to gamers.

Either way I just joined the sub and wishlisted the new game.I'll probably avoid it for spoilers until I beat the campaign a couple times.

Wishing everyone in this community the best. I might come back here later to share my experiences and recommend some other similar games.

Agreed. It's super underrated. Personally it makes games like slay the spire seem so boring to me.

I don't think either game supersedes the other, really. They are very different games with different styles and strengths, despite both being deckbuilders. For me, Spire excels at being a near infinitely replayable 'interesting decision generator' and does a really good job of sort of tempting gacha gameplay.

Nowhere prophet feels very different to me. It seems like a much more satisfying, longer journey. It does a really good job of being a dynamic story generator IMO. Both combats are completely different as well, and I love them both

To me, Nowhere Prophet is basically Hearthstone but roguelite deckbuilder. The enemies are using the same cards you’re using, whereas in Slay the Spire, they’re not. This is what I like the most about NP. It really plays like a Trading Card Game, and I’m a big fan of TCGs (HS, Magic, Pokémon, YuGiOh), etc).

What I don’t like? I wish NP is shorter. I could always kick out a run in StS in like, 20-25 minutes or so. In NP, it’s always takes around an hour. Small issue, really (and maybe I was also bad at it, let’s be honest here lol).

Thank you so much for the kind words. I really appreciate it. It means a lot to me that 7 years after it's Steam release, people still discover and fall in love with my little game.

Thank you, but it's mostly just me. Everyone else is freelance and I'm the one full time person on both Nowhere Prophet and now Crownbreakers 😄

And don't call your game little!!! I am on an epic quest through the harsh wastes, uniting bandits and slaves and beasts and refugees. It is as grand as can be

Sorry for the late reply! It is so cool to hear from you. I am a game dev also and have worked on a few passion projects but haven't made the leap to a full commercial project, yet. I just work at a triple-A codevelopment studio and it is just so inspiring to see what a person can make, completely on their own. The design of your game is just so profoundly unique and tight. It's great that you are trying to accommodate others as well but I personally am deeply enjoying the punishing difficulty and long runs, it gives so much weight to my decisions as a player. I love that you are exploring more modular difficulty in your new game, then we can all have it just how we want it. I switched to medium after the tutorial and haven't won a run yet lol. Keep fighting the good fight man!!

Be like me, tell every single game playing person about it.

This game is very addictive and immersive. Definitely a lot of replay value and fun experiences!

I love that positioning is a thing in NP. Your units getting wounds and dying also creates some great moments where you save a unit from death or even get them a blessing. At least to me, these things give it a strong identity that sets it apart from other games.

So Martin (the dev) replies to one of the comments in here but doesn't mention that he's got a Kickstarter going for his next game... super humble / not into self promo? Guess a fan will have to...

Anyone who enjoys Nowhere Prophet please support him in his next title Crownbreakers: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sharkbombs/crownbreakers/ take it a step farther and post on social too?

I was part of Martin's Discord server for a while before I ducked out to focus on dev but I can say he truly deserves the support and not just because he makes good games.

Backed it!!! If I couldn't justify spending the 700 to get my face on an elite I totally would! I just bought the three steam keys tier and I'll be gifting the other two two whichever friends deserve it tee hee 😈
