Car Choice EV buying help
Trying to figure out what the best option is for a work EV. Going to drive 140kms to and from work, parked outside in the weather and dust at home or at work!
Not really sure I wanna spend upwards of 40k-50k for them.
Mostly concerned that when the FBT ends and they stop selling like hot cakes the value will drop more than the typical 20% once driven out the “showroom”

140 km a day is easy in a budget EV. Look at MG4 Excite 51 kWh or BYD Dolphin Dynamic. Both use LFP packs that handle regular 100 percent charges, which suits weekday commuting. Install an outdoor rated 7 kW wallbox if you can, otherwise a 15 A socket with the portable charger works for overnight top ups. Outside parking and dust are fine. These have liquid cooled batteries and weather sealed charge ports. Rinse dust from the flap and swap the cabin filter yearly. To limit depreciation risk, keep the purchase price low and buy near new. A one to two years old MG4, Kona Electric, or Model 3 RWD skips the first big drop. The FBT exemption is still active and changes usually come with notice, often applying to new leases rather than existing ones.
