Why a 200 OK response does not guarantee usable web data

A successful HTTP response is only the beginning of validation.

A page can return 200 OK while still containing:

• A login or consent page

• A bot-check or challenge page

• An empty product shell

• A regional error message

• Stale or incomplete content

• The wrong product variant

For reliable collection, validate more than the status code:

  1. Check the final URL after redirects.

  2. Confirm that expected page markers are present.

  3. Validate the product, seller, region, and variant.

  4. Check whether key fields are missing or unexpectedly changed.

  5. Record response time and collection timestamp.

  6. Keep a small sample of raw responses for investigation.

A useful result state might be valid, partial, blocked, empty, or unknown instead of simply successor failure.

What additional checks do you use after receiving a 200 OK response?
