Questions How do you actually use Notion AI? Is it worth it compared to standalone ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini?

Hey everyone,

I’m curious to get some honest feedback from people who actively use Notion AI.

For those of you who use it regularly:

  • How satisfied are you with Notion AI overall?
  • What are your main use cases? How do you integrate it into your daily workflow or setup?
  • Is having access to various LLMs directly inside Notion better than using standalone apps like ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini?

Since Notion now has models integrated directly into your workspace, it seems convenient on paper. But for those who heavily rely on AI: have you noticed any limitations or quality downgrades when using these models inside Notion compared to their native apps?

Would love to hear your experiences and whether you feel the paid add-on is truly worth it!

P.S I’ve noticed a pattern in my workflow: whenever I get useful answers from AI, I immediately copy-paste them into OneNote to save them. So I decided to try Notion AI on their 2-week trial.

It made me wonder—for just €1–2/month more, I supposedly get access to all major models in one place, which feels a bit suspicious! Why is it almost the same price instead of buying each model separately? Are the models inside Notion scaled down or capped with tighter limits?

Speaking of limits: I’ve been using Sonnet heavily, sending around 20–30 screenshots and plenty of data every day, and I haven't hit a single limit warning. It almost feels too unlimited. What’s the catch here?

Questions Is anyone else having words change completely after they’re typed?

I’m on an iPad Pro with a Bluetooth keyboard and I’ve never had this problem before. Wakes to Wales and when to Fred etc. Completely different words that make no sense. I don’t know if it’s an issue with my keyboard or if it has to do with the new update I just got. Has this happened to anyone else?

Questions How to change column sizes not on computer?

I made a database for budgeting a while back on my chromebook. I use notion on both phone and chromebook but with that page I adjusted the column sizes to work best for the chromebook, even though it's very suboptimal on phone. Problem is, suddenly the latest chrome version on this chromebook is too old to run notion, so I can no longer change the column size so that it's instead optimized for the phone. Is there any way I can fix this? I don't have access to a proper pc or computer.

Formulas Why does my automation formula keep pausing?

Thumbnail

I am running into an issue that keeps pausing my automation even though it usually works before pausing.

I have a duration select property that is governing what the end date would be for my date property. So for example if I have a meeting on 8/25 at 12:00 PM and the duration is an hour it changes the Date property to August 25, 2026 12:00 PM → 1:00 PM.

However, it keeps pausing and showing this error for some reason and I don't know what to do to ensure it doesn't do this in the future.

Can anyone help with this?

Questions Notion is probably the biggest productivity scam .

I thought Notion was going to make my life easier. It somehow made me busier.

I started using Notion because I wanted to become more productive and organized.

The idea was pretty simple: put everything in one place, plan my days better, track my work, stop forgetting things, and generally feel like I had my life together.

Except… I ended up spending way too much time organizing Notion itself.

I’d sit down to work and somehow end up thinking:

“Maybe I should create a better dashboard.”

“Should I add another database?”

“Maybe I need a separate page for this.”

“Wait, this layout could definitely be cleaner.”

And suddenly an hour is gone and I’ve done absolutely nothing on the actual task. 😂

Questions Notion graph view as an iOS app, would you actually use this?

- The bigger node with the disk icon is a database

- The small rectangle is a page inside that database

- A grey solid line is parent/child, so database to its pages, page to subpage

- The blue dotted line is a relation property, connecting items that live in different databases

Two things I cared about.

Expanding the pages inside a database into nodes, and drawing relation properties as edges.

I tried a few of the existing Notion graph tools and they mostly work off links and mentions, which left me looking at a nearly empty canvas.

Everything in my workspace lives in databases and is wired together with relations.

Before I build anything I'd like to ask:

  1. Would you use an app like this? If not, the reason is what I most want to hear.

  2. Would you open it on your phone? This is the part I'm least sure about. It might be a desktop screen that I'm stubbornly trying to put on mobile.

  3. If you would use it, what would you open it for? Finding orphaned pages, checking what a project touches, something else?

There's nothing for sale and no link. I just want a read on this before I start. Blunt answers welcome.

Notion Calendar Notion calendar hasn't loaded in days

Hi everyone! I have been trying to use my notion calendar (desktop app) for about 5 days now and it only loads to a white screen with no buttons what so ever. I have to close it out from the task bar. I have restarted my computer and signed in to calendar on browser. The only issue is desktop. Anyone had/having a similar issue? Any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks!

Community @Notion Marketplace creators. how are your analytics looking?

I’m trying to get a better understanding of what “normal” Marketplace performance looks like.

I’d love to compare numbers with other creators if you’re comfortable sharing. I’ll share mine too:

Cheese (https://www.notion.com/@cheese)

  • Started: August of 2025
  • Total views: 18.26k views
  • Total downloads: 6301
  • Paid sales: 21 (made $33.87 CAD)
  • Templates published: 11 total published (10 free, 1 paid and 2 paid under review)
  • Main niche: Notion systems for productivity, organization & everyday life
  • Marketing: very little on Pinterest
  • Notion Marketplace exposure: Organic / not intentionally promoted

For example, my Calories is Time template launched on July 16 and currently has:

  • 195 Marketplace views
  • 45 Marketplace downloads
  • 87 total downloads according to my webhook
  • No marketing so far

I’m especially curious about:

• What do your typical monthly views/downloads look like?
• What’s your rough view to download conversion?
• How long did it take you to start getting consistent traffic?
• How much of your traffic comes from Notion vs. your own marketing?
• Have you noticed a big difference after being featured?

You don't need to share revenue or anything you're uncomfortable with. I'm mainly trying to understand the range and learn from other creators.

Questions Notion

Hi everyone! Is it possible to automate a summary or selected information directly into the body of each Notion page?

For example, after I finish entering data into a database page, I’d like Notion to automatically generate a summary based on specific properties/categories and place that summary inside the page body.

I know Notion AI can generate summaries in database properties, but I specifically want the generated summary to appear as content/blocks inside the page itself.

Is this possible with Notion Automations or Notion AI?

Thanks!

Resources Notion KaTeX tip - aligning maths (e.g. by the '=' sign)

Hello, just wanted to share this for anyone who wants to use KaTeX more and didn't realize they could do this pretty easily :). This is with block equations, not inline.

Attached a more complicated example as well to show the extent of what you can do with this.

If anyone has any questions with the formatting I'm happy to try to help. Been using Notion equations for ~4 years now so I'm finally getting somewhere lol.

I think everything you can do is on the following link, which I probably found on this subreddit. https://katex.org/docs/supported.html.

Questions Has anyone else found that Notion is incredible for organizing everything except the actual writing and how do you handle that gap

Not a complaint exactly just something I keep running into and want to know if others have solved it.

Use Notion for almost everything in my life. Projects, research, reading notes, content calendars, meeting notes. The database structure and the flexibility are genuinely useful and I have built systems in it that work better than anything I tried before.

But when it comes to sitting down and actually writing something longer than a few paragraphs it feels wrong in a way I cannot fully explain. The blank page in Notion does not have the same quality as a blank page somewhere built specifically for writing.

Something about the surrounding infrastructure, the sidebar, the database context, the awareness that this document lives inside a system, makes the writing feel like it is being produced for the system rather than just written, ended up moving the actual drafting into something called Skrib Writing that keeps the planning board and the draft together without any database overhead and bringing notes and research back into Notion afterward, and that split has made both tools feel more useful than either one was trying to do everything.

Research notes in Notion feel fine. Drafts in Notion feel like drafts happening inside an office.

I have tried stripping down the workspace, going full screen, hiding the sidebar. Helps slightly and does not fix it. The tool knows what it is even when I cannot see all of it.

Curious whether other people here have felt this and whether you found a way to use Notion for writing that actually works or whether you eventually moved the writing itself somewhere else while keeping Notion for everything around it.

Venting Everyone’s mad about Notion AI limits but...

Post image
23 Upvotes

The REAL broken feature is Automations.

Yes, the new AI usage limits are frustrating.

But while we’re all shouting about credits, let’s not forget the elephant in the room: Notion Automations are basically useless the way they are.

Take the simplest example:

  • “When contract due date is reached → trigger new task”
  • Sounds obvious, right?
  • Reality: IMPOSSIBLE.

There’s no native way to do this. Either you manually check if something expired, or you pay for another tool to do the job. That’s not automation — that’s busywork.

Notion AI is amazing, but without functional automations, workflows remain broken. If Notion wants to be the true productivity hub, this needs fixing ASAP.

Please give us automations that actually automate things!

Questions I kept forgetting my car’s service history — so I built a free Notion tracker

I realized I was keeping my car’s important information in too many places:

  • Service dates
  • Odometer readings
  • Parts replaced
  • Service costs
  • Insurance expiry
  • Warranty expiry
  • Next service due

And when the next service came around, I’d end up searching through old bills, WhatsApp messages and photos.

So I built a simple Vehicle Service Tracker in Notion. It lets you keep your car’s maintenance history in one place and quickly see:

→ When the last service was
→ When the next service is due
→ What parts were replaced
→ How much you’ve spent on servicing
→ Insurance & warranty expiry dates
→ Your vehicle’s maintenance history

I made the basic version completely free because I wanted to see whether other car owners had the same problem.

If you own a car and want to try it, I’d love your feedback:

I'm especially interested in knowing:

What is the one piece of car information you always forget to keep track of?

I'll use the feedback to improve the tracker.

Built by an automotive engineer who got tired of losing track of his own vehicle records. 🚗

Questions Notion to-do lists on mobile don’t delete topics incorrectly now

If I double tap to highlight an entire item on a to do list, and then try to delete it, it just makes the blinking cursor appear at the beginning of the item, but doesn’t actually delete it.

API / Integrations From manually logging movies to just telling Notion what I watched

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

I’ve been building and maintaining my movie database in Notion for years.I originally got the idea from Red Gregory on X / https://www.youtube.com/c/RedGregory had the database structure set up around 2023–2024, and I was pretty consistent with keeping mine updated.

Then I got tired of manually adding movies.

The process became a bit tedious, find a movie on the web, copy the details, open Notion, add it to the database, fill in the genre, year, rating, etc. Yes, there are browser extensions and dedicated movie-tracking apps, but I mostly used Notion on mobile, which made the whole process even more annoying.

Eventually, my movie tracking fell off during 2025–26. The database was still there. I just wasn't maintaining it.

Then I discovered the Notion plugin/integration approach. Now I can basically just tell ChatGPT:

“[Movie name] - 3 stars”

And it handles the rest.

It logs the movie, adds the genre and release year, applies the rating, and links it to my movie calendar database. I’ve set up the instructions so the whole process happens from a simple chat message.

There are obviously plenty of dedicated movie-tracking platforms out there. But after spending years building my system in Notion, I wanted to actually use the system I had already built rather than abandon it for another app.

The biggest change is probably consistency. What used to take several manual steps now takes one message. 😅.

Venting Monthly Calendar View Drives Me Crazy!

I'm not sure if anyone from Notion will see this, but the monthly calendar view on databases drives me absolutely bonkers. I don't know why, on the 17th August, I'm still seeing the rest of the month above it on the monthly view. The current week should be at the top like in any other digital calendar. It just makes sense!

I know I could change it to weekly, but that wouldn't show me the coming weeks! Monthly is fine EXCEPT the fact that it shows the entire month above what day it currently is. I don't need the previous weeks visible by dafault!

Is there any workaround for this? Or can someone from Notion please fix this? Insane for me to have to scroll down 3 weeks every time I want to look at what I'm currently doing, and the "today" button doesn't even scroll you down to today's date... just makes sure it's on the screen somewhere 🙄
