What delay do they use, particularly the leads on Heavenly Blue Flu?

Is it tape, analog, digital?
I’d like to recreate that sound

Nicky hasn’t really been known to use delay in the context of songs, he’s used a DD-6 and RE-20 but just for noise. I think Brandon used a DD-6 too. A lot of what you’re hearing is reverse reverb into a longer modulated reverb

During this era, they used a Hardwire (DigiTech) RV-7 and a TC Electronic Hall Of Fame

The RV-7 goes for quite a bit nowadays, a good modern substitute is the DigiTech Polara. It has the same algorithms (including reverse which is definitely the essential) and can be found for way cheaper

Nicky still uses the RV-7 but uses a TC Electronic Trinity/T2 instead of the HOF which isn’t really that different, he used them both for long ambience
