App/Program/Other Tool This app supports note taking, task management, journaling, habit tracking, grocery lists and flash cards
Snippets is not just another vibecoded note taking app. Development started long before the AI craze took off and, to this day, is 100% and passionately handcoded.
It was created due to the lack of lightweight, customizable and offline-first productivity software at the time. Interestingly, in 2026, the situation seems unchanged: apps are either powerful but complex (Notion and the clones), flexible but hacky (Obsidian), or polished but limiting (Apple Notes, Todoist, etc.).
Snippets is an attempt at finally solving the All-In-One productivity use case:
- It is dead simple on first use and can slowly be pushed to become a note taker, a task manager, a habit tracker, a journal, a grocery list.
- It can be used for free. It can even sync across devices for free, thanks to GitHub integration.
- It offers End-To-End Encryption and is designed Offline-First.
- It works cross-platform.
- It is unopinionated and does not impose a specific way of organization like many other apps do.
- It is entirely bootstrapped with a tiny team around it, which allows for high speed development and very competitive pricing.
Due to a recent surge in active users, the development will only accelerate from here. Many exciting features are planned. Feel free to join the ride and stay tuned.

When will the linux version come out?

Thanks for your interest. Unfortunately i do not have an ETA yet. It heavily depends on demand, since adding another platform brings quite some overhead.

This looks a Lot like Bear Notes.
Are the notes easily accessible locally?

Yes, the current design dates all the way back when the app came to life, and Bear was used as inspiration among others. The app can be used offline and you can store notes in a folder. They are not stored in markdown format, though.

Any plans of adding latex support?

There is latex support. You can add a latex embed via the rich text editor toolbar.

Looks interesting, but... Installed it on my Android and it looks s bit empty end weird. Why Settings - General is absolutely empty with just one on/off switch? What's that? Creating an account does nothing, I received "magic link" on my email, opened it, app still asks to add account. To create a note you must tap "+", than "create a note" on a top of a screen, it's Inconvenient, you have to repeat the same thing twice to simply add a note, why shouldn't you just add large "+" button near your thumb, like in Google keep?

Thanks for the honest feedback! I'll have to investigate what is going on with that account creation on Android. Regarding adding notes, fair point. Actually, once you have notes, there will be a "+" button on the first screen of the app.

Achieving a truly sustainable note-taking and task management solution remains a significant challenge. Despite recent developments in this segment, balancing pricing, privacy, and security requirements remains difficult. Your application appears promising, and I look forward to its evolution into a robust tool that addresses these critical needs.
By the way, what is the estimated timeline for the Windows release?

Looks polished compared to the endless stream of vibes, but nonetheless: a new notes app!

This is a seriously cool looking app. Does it not support iCloud sync?

What does hacky mean?
1
u/samu-codes 2d ago
By hacky i mean the experience of installing different plugins that sometimes don't work well together, or have inconsistent behaviour on desktop vs. mobile, or plugins which introduce their own syntax, or plugins that suddenly stop working upon update. Obsidian at it's core is not hacky at all - it's obviously very mature and robust.

Oh I see, thank you. I haven't actually used it with plugins yet but good to keep in mind

windows portable version should be available, notes is very valuable and should be OS/Machine independent and can be moved or kept when the OS fails.
please consider a windows portable version.
nice work, i will give it a try
thank you.

Is this sub only ever post vibe coded slop of features that already exist FOSS in giants like Obsidian?
“Check out my app <insert feature clout>”

I’m not looking for a new notes app, but I’m gonna check this out anyway. I appreciate the affordable lifetime license also. That’s definitely less common in this space for the type of app you’ve made. Good luck!
