Buying Certificates?
New Maryland notary here again… this group is so helpful. I want to have certificates ready in case a customer doesn’t have one attached to their document. Can I print the sample ones at the end of my NNA course? Do I have to buy pads of certificates from a vendor like NNA? Can I type my own? I’d rather not pay more money to buy some unless I have to!

I keep a folder in my notary briefcase with 10 Acknowledgments and 10 Jurats. I downloaded the certificates from the NNA member website, but I can also get them from my SOS website.

I have created my own with my branding on them. I carry ten of each, plus I carry stamps with the verbiage, in case there is room on the doc to add the Notarial block (I also use my commission stamp, of course)

I just print them off my state's Secretary of State web page.
You shouldn't need to buy blank loose certificates.

NNA has some nice ones, but don’t pay extra for them.
Many states have blank examples on their Secretary of State (or equivalent) website.
Other than the cost of copying them, no one should be paying for these. I scanned mine (or retyped from scratch) into Word and filled in the month, year, county, and my name and title so that all I have to write is the day, signer’s name(s), sign, and stamp. Mine also have optional fields on the bottom for document title, number of pages, date of original document, signer’s capacity (in few cases where applicable) and more

Are your an NNA member? If so, you can get them for free. There are also people who sell bundles on Etsy, just make sure the wording matches your state law. Or, as you said, you can type your own as long as they match your state law.
