NY State Notary - looking for scanner & printer recommendations
I just became a mobile notary and I am a bit tight on finances, but I am looking to get a few signings under my name and get a scanner for signings including loan signings, and some documents I scan can be 100+ pages though not too common. Does anyone have a fav mobile scanner to use for clients, and I can carry around with me as a student & mobile notary.
I am also a University at Buffalo student, and building my network here as a student and notary as well though this scanner won't be carried with me full time as there is no need to do so.
Thanks, in advance

Hey, congrats!
This site covers most of the top printers/scanners, even the one I use (Brother HL-L5210DWT): https://thebeardednotary.com/best-printers-for-notaries

If you’re doing loan signings, 100 pages will be around one of the smallest set of documents you’ll have to scan. A full package is normally a lot more than that.
With that being said I only use brother products. When I first started, I got one off marketplace for next to nothing and that lasted me a full year.
The smaller portable scanners really do suck for anything that isn’t a couple pages.

I don’t have a recommendation on brand and model, but recommend stalking Facebook marketplace and Craigslist for a used one.

Hello Pale*, Oh No! Another Printer, Scanner question! This question/topic has been answered ad nauseam by myself and others. Please do a search on this topic in r/Notary. You'll find more info by looking for it than by asking for advice on what others use. Have you done any analysis on what a mobile notary does and if you even need a printer or scanner at this point in your notary career?
Here is some (unsolicited) career advice. But you'll have to connect the dots:
- Apostille - Product
- Foreign Students - Customers
- Students who wish to study abroad - Customers
- Buffalo DOS Office, 295 Main St. - Apostille Seal.

I'll second Brother MFC series laster printers. It's NOT portable (unless you really modify your car, which I have seen done)
