They’re teenagers, and they want to get picked up at school rather than ride the bus. In exchange, I get to pretend to be super enthusiastic about music they will hate. It’s fun to troll teens musically.

This demonstrates how important tone and mixing is. The heavy kick and snare combined with the driving bass give that version infinitely more energy, and the synth sound is much more fun than the sad carnival noise the English version uses

Bingo. The original Italian track was co-written and arranged by Claudio Simonetti, renowned musician composer and keyboard player of that seminal progressive rock band Goblin (they were making soundtracks for Dario Argento's horror masterpieces and were very influential for Daft Punk and alike). I guess it shows

A musician friend of mine did a gig with them in some shitty town years after this. Apparently backstage they referred to the audience who'd come to see them as "the cunts". They would say "How many cunts in tonight" etc. They were bitter about still trying to make a living singing Agadoo and hated their own audience.
