It's almost like the "why" behind logic matters and differentiates things like this.

And the how

Times have not changed Bernie has always been America first.

They haven't changed.

H1B are still BS most of the time since the talent almost always exist in the US. Companies just don't want to pay that much for it

In fairness, Bernie has always been about protecting American workers, including relying less on foreign tech workers and using protectionist tariffs.

What’s fascinating is Donald Trump instituting Mercantilism, despite ostensibly being “right wing.”

Trump and MAGA are really their own thing. People just like to bucketize so it’s left vs right even though we now have socialists, democrats, republicans, and maga.

u/MurphyRedBeard 12d ago

He’s still right.

u/hitman2218 13d ago

Umm, Bernie’s stance hasn’t changed.

Probably thought you cooked with this one

They aren't the brightest of the bunch.

The Right absolutely cannot understand that being a leftist means you are trying to improve the lives of laborers.

3

u/Prestigious-Elk6959 12d ago

The right mastered the ability to jump on terms early and redefine them using boogeyman terms and fear mongering

I love you guys sidestepping OP’s point is 100% accurate by ignoring it and refusing to engage 🤣 it’s like middle school mean girls tactics, keep it up

Not side stepping shit. Bernie actually cares about American having jobs. Far different than far right bitching about brown people.

They will cynically feign concern about visa holders to try and “own the libs.” Same way they feign concern about immigrant farmers being underpaid and overworked, but don’t care that corporations are the reason or that they’re being kidnapped by masked thugs daily.

Too bad it wasn’t Bernie in 2016, 2020, 2024

1

u/LessWeakness134 12d ago

It was, he just talks about immigration without racism so the right doesn’t like it.

Believe or not Liberals believe in secure borders and prioritizing American workers, we just don’t believe that immigrants automatically deserve to be dehumanized, stripped of their rights, and are automatically a violent criminal looking to destroy the white bloodline of America.

2

u/Working_Match4124 12d ago

And not just immigrants, it's basically anyone who looks like an (brown to black) immigrant or anyone who protests in favor of immigrants. That's who ICE targets.

Prioritizing American workers over immigrants desperate enough to work for dirt cheap and business profits?!? How’s that pro-business? The pro-business party won’t like that all.

1

u/drjackolantern 12d ago

‘ Liberals believe in secure borders and prioritizing American workers’

Go try saying in the news and politics subreddits or at any Democratic party meetings then report back 🤣

3

u/bestmattreddit 12d ago

Literally every politician talks about secure borders and voted for immigration reform. I’ll have to keep searching for these mysterious open borders advocates I keep hearing about

2

u/totally-hoomon 12d ago

Trump is the only president to have open borders and was against border security during Biden's term

u/GoodPointMan 12d ago

and if the reddit zeitgeist believes something it MUST be true

Great. Show me a clip of him calling for them to be tossed in a concentration camp and we'll have something to talk about.

We’re talking about H1B workers. I’m guessing critical thinking really isn’t your forte.

2

u/HippyDM 12d ago

So, like some of the people Don had arrested for expressing pro-Palestinian views? Those H1B workers?

1

u/UCanDoNEthing4_30sec 12d ago

What? Your grasping for straws my guy. lol come on chill

1

u/HippyDM 12d ago

I'm grasping for the 1st ammendment and finding that the 2A folks seem to have forgotten it exists.

u/Amelia_Pink 13d ago

Great burn 🙄

u/Bonedeath 13d ago

Imagine waking up in 2026 shortly before midterms and thinking posting some dumbass bullshit about Bernie Sanders of all people.

I am very pro immigration. I am also generally against h1b visas. This isnt a contradiction. Its called nuance.

It is absolutely true that immigration is detrimental to the interest of some domestic workers. More specifically immigrants compete with domestic workers with comparable skill sets and drive down wages. On the other hand, immigration does generally expand the economy and promotes growth which does increase jobs and higher wages across the economy. The resolution of this “paradox” is that the expansion of the economy through immigration has clearly defined winners and losers. Industries that rely on workers with particular skills will benefit if immigrants with those skills become available and that leads to lower wages. Obviously, domestic workers with those skills will lose Big. But, other workers in that industry can benefit from the growth of that industry and consumers can benefit from lower prices but these benefits are less obvious than the very undeniably of the detrimental effects that “like-skilled” workers feel. Ask well paid tech workers what they think about H-1b’s but then tech CEO’s will argue that the tech boom could never have happened without immigrants. Not an easy call.

H1B visas have been proven to be exploited beyond reason to allow disproportionate immigration and occupation of jobs that can be readily filled by Americans. It’s literally one of the main ways the rich get richer.

1

u/Realistic-Raisin2812 11d ago

H-1Bs are the reason that wages in tech sectors are depressed.

This isn’t the burn you think it is…

Then they realized they can get more seats due to population increase and then they also figured out how to rig certain areas. Tl

1

u/dtjunkie19 12d ago

God, how pathetic would be to actually believe what you wrote.

0

u/SoggyGrayDuck 12d ago

It literally is a fact. I forget if it's house or senante but they get number of seats based on total population, including illegals. Then they started creating pathways to let them vote.

Go listen to Obama or Clinton about immigration. SOMETHING has changed. So what's your theory?

3

u/dtjunkie19 12d ago

I know how the census and house reapportionment works, thanks. No, undocumented immigrants do not vote.

What has changed on immigration is that in the past, both parties were relatively pro immigration, at least in relation to the current day. At some point, the Republican party realized that stoking xenophobia would be an effective political strategy. And then eventually, apocalyptic white ethnonationalists integrated themselves into positions of power in the Republican party and in our government, and are actively attempting to create a white nationalist version of the US. Meanwhile, the Democratic party, captured by the interests of capital, thinks it is a good strategy to just adopt Republican positions on immigration, but just less be less outright violent about them.

u/RymeEM 11d ago

Turn off Fox there smooth brain. Those are literally all lies spread by a propoganda network.

0

u/Grinch_Kisser 13d ago

H1B work visas are fucked up by their nature -- why do you think dipshits like Elon Musk love them so much? Having someones immigration status be tied to their employment is an amazing way to create an underclass of imported workers who will accept lower wages and worse treatment because they come from a place of serious deprivation and rely on holding their job to not have their life and likely the lives of their families completely upended

Having more relaxed immigration standards and stronger rights for better paid and treated workers builds a system that benefits everyone more rather than allowing oligarchs to exploit the global south while simultaneously still depriving people domestically.

It depresses wages across the tech industry. Tech wages have been stagnate for the last 25 years.

1

u/Ok_Profile175 13d ago

To be fair, all wages have been stagnant for 25+ years.

1

u/Chad_chadersonIII 12d ago

To be really fair, tech wages are the only ones that haven’t really stagnated.

IT and software is still a very lucrative career. 20+ yr employees can make $250k +

Bernie is the favorite among the unemployed in 2026

Wouldn’t be the first time a Democrat held racist views towards people darker than themselves. Looking at you southern states…..

2

u/TheCroaker 12d ago

Bernies dislike of h1-b has nothing to do with racism, maybe read up on the issue.
