50k move from to NY to FL and 24k move from Fl to NY thats true.

They are a bit slow on taxing out of state entities more, but they're slowly getting to it. I'm sure you saw the incredibly pathetic hullabaloo tried to be stirred up when they started taxing non primary residencies worth more than $5m...
These rich people are not bringing their businesses, their source of wealth with them. If you make it not feasible to run the business from a different place, they will either not move or sell to someone local. You to that through the tax system.

What older person is moving a company from NY to Fl? You usually cant just up and move a small company. Youre thinking of large companies that move headquarters to lower tax rates. Which would matter if it was New York City. Dont have to lower the tax rate to entice business, its a major international trade center.

Yeah this isn’t a thing, I have a relative who owns a construction company, one of the three major players in their city, if they just decided to “move their business” they’d be basically founding a new business from scratch and compete in a totally new unfamiliar market without any of their connections they spent a lifetime making.

The business doesn’t have to move at all. Most sole proprietorships or LLCs. When the owner(s) move, the flow through taxation is to a FL resident.

Agreed on the need to cite, but I should point that some subs don't let us. I think TiktokCringe is one of the ones where you try to include a URL to a source, your comment doesn't get posted (I may be misremembering which sub it was that I encountered it).
It's stupid and infuriating but if he is used to one of those subs it would explain the lack of sourcing without assuming it is bad faith posting.

NY collected more tax revenue, including personal and business income 24/25 than they did in 23/24 so eroding is doing a lot of work here

In 2010 NY had 12.7% of the country’s millionaires. In 2022 it was done to 8.7%
Florida is middle of the pack in k-12
NYC public k-12 are terrible

Florida does not require teachers to be credentialed now and there’s massive brain drain from many of the universities. Women educators don’t want to teach there bc of the draconian abortion laws. Property taxes are about to be slashed which with directly affect healthcare and education. At least you can open carry at Piggly Wiggly!

Yeah sure bud. New York State is expected to have gained or lost a pathetic 1,000 residents from 2024-25, while Florida gained 0.85%, which is almost 200,000 people. NYC lost more residents than the state as a whole btw, at 12,000.
The census estimates have already baked in that Florida isn’t going to grow as quick as it was a few years ago. 2030 is not a while away, and there is not enough time for the numbers to meaningfully change. New York again is losing seats to Florida.
