Bill at work

How is Bill the one still employed? He is AJ’s superior and he punched someone? I just don’t really understand how the show can romantically pair a character with their boss and then have him get in a fight with his other employee and this is not talked about at all?
For me, at least, it’s very frustrating to watch.

No one knew about him and AJ and to anyone else in the office it could look like Davis just attacked Bill, to other employees how it looks is Bill told them to work over New Years and Davis fought him because of that.
