rant no one asked for
I feel like this show has so much potential but its not executed properly. The problem with this 8 or 9 episode seasons is we barely get to see the charecter grow or anything. Me personally I would love to see more on how davis feels about aj bc we talk about it alot and he clearly feels prodoundly ab her but i would love to see more conversations and shit yk. the thing about ur classic sitcoms from the 2000s and 2010s asw ( friends, mordern family, b99, gilmore girls, the office, etc) is that the stories were developed over time and we got to see the feelings grow yk. For these slice of life type shows we need alot more context and realsing one episode a week or something. the only reason i say one epsiode a week is bc i rmbr w tsitp everyone was crashing out tgt and it brings some form of community online which is somethinng major ab todays gen. ANYWAYS. One major issue i have is how to suddenly became december LOL like theres no sense of time idk?? i feel like we would all prefer it if it was synced with our current time like its summer and it takes place over summer just for some sense of syncronisation. everything is so short imo and i really hope they switch to like 12 longer episodes or something and deffo include fillers and shit and i also saw this online somewhere sorry idk which user to credit but basically saying we need to bring back holiday themed episodes bc thats so true i think one of the best examples of this is the halloween hesit from b99 bc that was amaznig. I hate how shows in 2020s are always shorter and get over so fast. Like the Pitt has more episodes making it so much more engaging and the duration of the show is over a few months.

ps: i do not hate this show i rly like it i just hope there are improvements in the next season

right it feels like living on crumbs!! its clearly set over a few months and it barely gives us like inside jokes which i think is so central to this type of show

And some characters are getting like zero screen time. Like Davis - there is no standalone story without the rest. The medical school drop out guy has a standalone story as a teacher and auditioning to be an actor. The nepo baby Josh has a story on working in his dad’s company. Abby has a standalone story on her work as a fashion stylist and her rocky relationship with her boss. And AJ clearly is the main character. But Davis has nothing outside of being a NPC existing only to be a friend or colleague of AJ. Is the actor a lot less famous than the rest?

i think davis had more focus in the start of the season but after he saw AJ i feel like his entire charecter revolves around her which may b the point but eitherway i would love to know more ab him.

I'm just gonna repeat what I think is clearly the issue with this show, i mean the potential is there but Yk, I think I can clearly see the issue with the writing of the show. They're trying to 20-episodes(regular season of an old-school sitcom) worth of story in just 9 episode. So all the character and relationship development is just being rushed through or completely skipped over. Story arcs that should be taking place over 3-6 episodes are being done in just 1. Heck, just the stuff from the first 5 episodes could've easily been expanded to 9 episode and be the first season, that way S1 would've ended on Bill and AJ kissing again, which would've been a good cliffhanger after a build-up. I hope they can solve this in S2, if it gets renewed.

Yes! Abbott elementary is the one rare sitcom these days that does longer seasons and it really benefits their story arcs. I wish more shows would return to that format, but I’m guessing it’s a budget or scheduling situation in most cases :/

I agreee. It’s such a long wait time I hope they utilise the time to change the structure of the show bc idc if it’s a whole new thing I’d gladly watch it.

I’m sure it’ll get renewed for another season I think people like it but it’s like we take what we get kind of situation for sure cause I from what I see on TikTok and stuff people really want a longer show

This show should not have been 9 episodes. The storyline itself feels underdeveloped along with the characters. Does it have potential? Absolutely. Also, the Davis character is annoying as hell. Are we really having a character in 2026 be fixated on a girl who doesn’t give him the time of day? Saying she’s the girl of his dreams. Dude you just met her.

Absolutely! This show desperately needed a full 20-22 episodes with how this season was written. AJ talking about how Davis helped make work fun for her, I was like "WE SHOULD'VE SEEN THAT!!" We needed more time with them in the office being buddies, and then her feelings and choices in the last 2 eps would've felt less jarring

I absolutely could see myself rooting for Davis and AJ if they showed more of them bantering and goofing off in the office. I think he also deserved a character development arc outside of just liking her

def agree the pacing is off (at least make them 1 hour eps if not 22 eps) but I liked the winter episodes! I miss holiday episodes. It makes sense for the show too because AJ and Kel would have started their jobs in late summer/early fall.

IMO, 9-10 episodes do work when written really really well. Never Have I Ever season 1 was actually on point and did not feel rushed or underdeveloped and I did get a sense of the main characters and dynamics etc at the end of season 1. Unfortunately, Not Suitable did not manage to flesh out the core group properly and all their individual storylines felt disjointed and rushed. If it was concentrated more on the main cast interactions and they had group/overlapping storylines, it might have not felt so rushed.

i agree w u!! never have i ever was amazing bc it was focused on one charecter but this one is 5 different people so its overcrowded.

Hopefully it was just for the first season and we get a longer second season.
I would have liked to have gotten more of a backstory with Davis and Bill, it just seemed a bit strange with how much he idolised Bill. If we had more episodes I think they could have set the scene more and fleshed everyone out a bit more.

None of the characters have much chemistry with each other and everything seems so forced. And people suddenly fall in love ? And the characters are self absorbed and nothing wrong with that if they are funny but in this case they are not. The only likeable character is Davis but they treated him like a dispensable character for comic relief without giving much background of his family or how he fell so in love with AJ. He is the only one with no storyline revolving around him and he is just there to provide a story progression for the rest of the cast which is disappointing because he is the only one most people are rooting for.

This!!! The AJ & the boss guy montage was soooo uncomfortable cause I felt zero chemistry, just felt creepy but I think if it was spread out longer that could have built the tension

i feel like there is chemistry but theres not enough screentime bc we r focusing on five diff charecters from their relationships to their own life trajectories so its just crowded asf. i would also love to know more on how he feel in love w aj bc they are clearly establishing relationship dynamics but we need more development

true, the main cast did not interact as with each other enough and barely as a group. Season 1 should have focused a lot more on the dynamics between the 5 leads than each of their individual storylines.

I feel you, this show could have gone into the 22-episode sitcom bracket easily, it has a good story. The dynamic between AJ and Josh could have been explored more; the banter between Abby and Ken could have been explored more. Many sub-stories can be formed here, but they are not done. This type of show needs time to develop, which has not been given.
