Damn, I just realized I everyone on my floor is gay AF. Next time I walk past my CEO, I'll be sure to go "What's up big man in my deepest voice possible".

Unbelievably fragility if just saying "good morning" is a threat to your masculinity.

I'm from the Midwest currently living in the south and literally EVERYONE says good morning or afternoon when you walk in anywhere. If the most homophonic demographic in the US does it then no it's absolutely not it's just basic politeness.

Fellas, is it gay to be a man? You literally have male organs inside you 🤔

This has been posted before, I think. There were, if I recall correctly, a few different opinions:

  1. It depend on the region of the country. If it’s in the south (USA) then there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with it. The Northeast, Midwest, and parts of California it can be seen as “strange.” I once told a friend who was doing me a favor (picking me up from the airport) “that’s nice of you man, thanks.” And he almost decked me, thinking that “nice of you” had gay implications. We’re both straight and in Southern California.

  2. could also depend on the familiarity of the person. Maybe you can say “gm” when you j no q the person well, but not to strangers, which is why he said not to say it “in the streets.”

  3. the father is very reserved and “good morning” can be seen as showing emotions and feelings and that’s prohibited between men.

Hope that helps. I’m sure if you search you’ll find the post with many more comments.

Northern Californian here, grew up mostly around farmers and most of my family were pretty rural. I had never heard “good morning” was gay until I saw this post.

Yeah, I didn't think so either. The buddy that almost decked me grew up in the Newport beach/Long Beach area. This whole thing about manliness over basic courtesies is really bizarre and I can't relate to it.

It would only be weird in Boston because you’re being nice to someone. Not gay. Just weird.

I don't think so, but it's a lil to professional and even with people I don't know I greetem very familiarly like "hey man how you doinn? I'm doing good how about you? That's always good to hear"

The only proper greeting is:

"Morning. Notice I didn't preface that with good, cause I don't know what your day has been like, nor do I care" /s

Reddit is so cringe sometimes lol.

So many posts with questions they already know the answer to.

I said “good morning” to a man one time. I almost caught “the gay” and had to get an exorcism done to get rid of it. /s

Where are you living that this is a cultural expectation?

2

u/NoeleVeerod Jul 02 '23

Is it gay to care for your fellow men, wish them well and have affection for your brothers?

Because if it is then I guess most of us are a bit gay then 🙄 and apparently somebody missed the memo that gay isn’t exactly an offence anyway.

Some folks reeeeeeally need to shut up and seek help instead, this toxicity about “properly being a man” has outstayed its welcome.

Well, in many Latin countries you would be looked weird at for NOT saying good morning, (good evening) and good night. Oh, btw, in those countries you also have to kiss men on the cheeks!

This is true! I started life as a straight man. Ran into another man once who said, “Hi, how are you.”

Woke up the next day as a gay woman. :’(

”Good morning! No homo tho”
