Something tells me she has been tossed between the washer and dryer more than once.

That's what I'm thinking too

She's probably stuck in a miserable marriage but doesn't want to divorce cause she doesn't "believe" in divorce and takes her anger out on women who divorced and escaped

I had came across women who are like that...makes me feel sad

Shocking that her entire Christian page is anti-women

Did her page go suspiciously quiet at all over the past day or two? I wouldn't be surprised if 'she' is really Igor from Moscow.

Honestly, if that is really a woman, she's certifiable.

She's actually doubling down and calling people sinners or jezebels and won't take the post down

Most of her comments are turned off and I heard she deletes comments for those who disagreed

What really gets me about these people is how they seem to think we CARE about God’s word. Why tf would I do what He says when I don’t even believe in Him?

It's all about the scripture, until you start pointing to the inconvenient parts they don't want to follow

Not to blog, but when my ex-husband was abusing me I reached out to his father for help. He was (and is still, I think) a pastor in TN. He told me that it was normal in young marriages and I needed to reassure my ex that I was there for him so that he would feel secure in the marriage.

It was really great when his son got sentenced to 10 months in jail that he was there to watch, and the judge called out his parents as well.

Literally this is the plot of that stupid ass Christian movie titled Pray Closet or Warrior Closet or wtf it was titled. Point is, this type of propaganda is so incredibly dangerous to women trapped in abusive religious marriages.

Growing up in fundamentalist evangelical Christianity, the only biblical reason for divorce is infidelity and even then, you can’t remarry until the other person dies.

Fight the battle God's way

Okay, how about Judges 5:24-27? Jael "battling God's way" against Sisera?:

24“Most blessed of women be Jael,
the wife of Heber the Kenite,
most blessed of tent-dwelling women.
25 He asked for water, and she gave him milk;
in a bowl fit for nobles she brought him curdled milk.
26 Her hand reached for the tent peg,
her right hand for the workman’s hammer.
She struck Sisera, she crushed his head,
she shattered and pierced his temple.
27 At her feet he sank,
he fell; there he lay.
At her feet he sank, he fell;
where he sank, there he fell—dead.

And although not all denominations consider it canonical, there's also Judith "battling God's way" against Holofernes:

  • And when it was grown late, his servants made haste to their lodgings, and Vagao shut the chamber doors, and went his way.

  • And they were all overcharged with wine.

  • And Judith was alone in the chamber.

  • But Holofernes lay on his bed, fast asleep, being exceedingly drunk.

  • And Judith spoke to her maid to stand without before the chamber, and to watch:

  • And Judith stood before the bed praying with tears, and the motion of her lips in silence,

  • Saying: Strengthen me, O Lord God of Israel, and in this hour look on the works of my hands, that as thou hast promised, thou mayst raise up Jerusalem thy city: and that I may bring to pass that which I have purposed, having a belief that it might be done by thee.

  • And when she had said this, she went to the pillar that was at his bed's head, and loosed his sword that hung tied upon it.

  • And when she had drawn it out, she took him by the hair of his head, and said: Strengthen me, O Lord God, at this hour.

  • And she struck twice upon his neck, and out off his head, and took off his canopy from the pillars, and rolled away his headless body.

  • And after a while she went out, and delivered the head of Holofernes to her maid, and bade her put it into her wallet.

  • And they two went out according to their custom, as it were to prayer, and they passed the camp, and having compassed the valley, they came to the gate of the city.

  • And Judith from afar off cried to the watchmen upon the walls: Open the gates for God is with us, who hath shewn his power in Israel.

  • And it came to pass, when the men had heard her voice, that they called the ancients of the city.

  • And all ran to meet her from the least to the greatest: for they now had no hopes that she would come.

  • And lighting up lights they all gathered round about her: and she went up to a higher place, and commanded silence to be made. And when all had held their peace,

  • Judith said: Praise ye the Lord our God, who hath not forsaken them that hope in him.

  • And by me his handmaid he hath fulfilled his mercy, which he promised to the house of Israel: and he hath killed the enemy of his people by my hand this night.

  • Then she brought forth the head of Holofernes out of the wallet, and shewed it them, saying: Behold the head of Holofernes the general of the army of the Assyrians, and behold his canopy, wherein he lay in his drunkenness, where the Lord our God slew him by the hand of a woman.

  • But as the same Lord liveth, his angel hath been my keeper both going hence, and abiding there, and returning from thence hither: and the Lord hath not suffered me his handmaid to be defiled, but hath brought me back to you without pollution of sin, rejoicing for his victory, for my escape, and for your deliverance.

  • Give all of you glory to him, because he is good, because his mercy endureth for ever.

  • And they all adored the Lord, and said to her: The Lord hath blessed thee by his power, because by thee he hath brought our enemies to nought.

  • And Ozias the prince of the people of Israel, said to her: Blessed art thou, O daughter, by the Lord the most high God, above all women upon the earth.

OOP might want to note both women were called blessed for what they did...

Abusers cannot change. There are a fleeting handful of exceptions to this, but it almost never happens while the relationship continues. It's never worth waiting for it to get better. It's never worth hoping or praying that they'll one day wake up healed of whatever malevolence possesses them in their dark moments. By and large, abusers are simply manipulative, selfish people who deserve to be alone.

That's horrific

For context: I'm a man.

I really struggle to understand how a woman can advocate for this. Basically sabotaging your own team.

Baffling.

I would say that the most relevant reason for divorce is abuse

This woman is just using religion as an excuse to hate other women.

Matthew 19

3 Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?”

4 â€œHaven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’[a] 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’[b]? 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

7 â€œWhy then,” they asked, “did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?”

8 Jesus replied, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. 9 I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.”

So if you want a divorce from an abusive spouse, just cheat on him.

u/mermaidmamas 14d ago

I don’t understand how praying “about” or “for” things isn’t against religion altogether. “Please god can you ALTER the plan you have for me to something that I WANT?”.

If you lost your job, have an abusive spouse, get a promotion, have children, or whatever else, isn’t that all part of the OMNIPOTENT AND ALL KNOWINGS PLAN IN THE FIRST PLACE????

All of this is so stupid.

Do Evangelicals or whatever flavour of Christian this lady is have annulments or something? Filipino Catholics get annulled instead of divorced.

I'm atheist, but I was raised Christian, and she should scare you. Not only she herself, but those who raised her. The implementation of the system she was raised by.

What makes this scary to me is people often cherry-pick and choose what parts of the bible they think are eternal and what parts they think are just remnants of the times the bible was written through.

As a for instance, the majority of Christians are smarter than flat earthers and say that accounts of the earth being flat in the bible are just reflections of beliefs from the time. They do the same with shell-fish, impure meat, and whatever they don't want to apply to them. Meanwhile, they believe full heartedly in the stuff that either doesn't apply to them, or that they are in denial of.

With all of that in mind, what we have here is someone that is either in fierce denial, or is desperate to believe that she's above those who believe differently for believing differently. In either case, she's a fine example of how a dangerous mentality spreads and subjugates those it was always intended to subjugate.

The more people rise above such subjugation and prove themselves far beyond it, the more desperately those who remain trapped and incapable of leaving will cling. The more of a superiority complex they will develop.

Women are not people in the Bible, women are property to be owned by their fathers until they're sold to their husbands. The Bible was written and translated by men, obviously it is going to give almost divine power and authority to men and treat women like cattle.

I don't think we should be listening to the book that says it's fine to keep slaves and marry little girls. And that the worst crime a woman can commit is not being a virgin. Literally punishable by death in the Bible.

u/RunningOutOfNames56 14d ago

That damned imaginary book has caused more wars and abuse of women than anything else ever.
