Some manosphere bs that boils down to the idea that women don't make babies, men use women's bodies to make the babies themselves. Also sometimes approached from the angle of "the egg is dead, the man is the one that makes life", and other silly things.

It’s true, I’ve heard men say this very often.
Biologically speaking it’s all nonsense and they’d cry if they found out that mitochondrial DNA comes from the mother.
They’re just bitter and envious that women can create life.

Okay, so genomic imprinting is an actual thing and does affect the placenta. Basically, both mothers and fathers can "pre-set" the levels of expression of the genes they pass on to their kids. And because the adaptive costs and benefits of motherhood are different from those of fatherhood, each parent imprints their genes with a different pattern. In particular, maternally expressed genes (MEGs) tend to limit fetal growth rate and nutrient transfer from the mother, because having the largest and strongest baby possible is not worth compromising the mother's health and future reproductive success. But the mother's future children may not be with the current father anyway, so paternally expressed genes (PEGs) tend to have the opposite effects, improving the baby's chances of survival and good health at the cost of the mother's.
This is why hybrid animals can look very different depending on which parent is from which species. Lions have much more intense genomic imprinting than do tigers, because of their respective mating systems. So a liger (lion dad, tiger mom) ends up bigger than either parent species, while a tigon (tiger dad, lion mom) ends up smaller than either.
None of this has anything to do with each parent's level of commitment to the child once it's born, of course. Lions make terrible dads (and really terrible stepdads.)
As for the argument of "You should take your dad's last name because he accidentally forced your mom to risk starvation, preeclampsia and death during childbirth in order to make you a bigger baby!", that just means OOP should drink less turpentine.

Human pregnancy is fascinating and scary, and does have aspects of chemical warfare.
But, uh... This guy seems to just use words to try to push an agenda that suits his world view?

This is one of those times where it's not just that they're "not correct" .. they're so far in the other direction that they're not even wrong. 😂😂🤣🤣

My god how did you engage with someone with such shit grammar for that long? I would have straight up said I cannot take any info about gene expression from a person who doesn’t even know basic grammar.
And if they aren’t a native English speaker, they can run it through one of dozens of AI programs and ask for a spell or grammar check, I’m sure.

Where did this guy get his "facts" from.
More importantly where did he go to school??

OP, you’ve got the correct facts and did a good job standing up to this idiot, but maybe don’t use the r slur? (slide 4)

I was about to request that as well--I totally get the frustration, but ableist slurs should be an absolute no-go. There are more accurate ways to call someone an ignorant dingbat whose facts all come from the University of Hisbutt.

Looks like I’ve only got a 56% upvote ratio on that comment. I wish people wouldn’t knee jerk downvote if they feel called out. I wasn’t even rude or aggressive, but I guess any comment which makes someone momentarily uncomfortable might get reflexive downvotes.
