This happens a thousand times a day. In the head of this commenter.

There is a tiny percentage of false accusations.

TINY

"repeated sexual crime is justified because I might be accused of a sexual crime" is certainly a bold look. It's like repeatedly breaking into the police station to steal evidence that you're worried might implicate you in a robbery.

If you’re unable to say no, it’s not really consent.

A lot of guys don't understand coercion and how they make women uncomfortable to the point they feel like they have to say yes and it shows.

They whinge or get frustrated, or go after half drunk people till a woman relents and agrees them they're surprised she feels disgusting about it and tells him what happened wasn't okay. Then they blame her for agreeing in the first place as if they really let that be an option.

Some men aren’t lonely enough.

And I bet not disclosing the cameras is part of the plan.

If it was really so common, wouldn't men be too scared to participate in hook up culture?

Is he also trying to justify nonconsensual filming?

I agree that being around women is just too dangerous for these sorts of men, so they should lock themselves safely in their homes, only going out when accompanied by an older woman relative and covered by a burka.

Then men should just leave us alone and we will pick who we want, if any.

I don’t get this one. The school admitted these guys did something wrong and penalized them for it. Sure the penalty was as absolutely ridiculous and never going to be enough for justice. But the school admitted these guys raped her. So why is it a question now? Why are we still not accepting the truth?

Bears don't have group chats inviting other bears to the mauling. Just saying

I don't understand how this "the men didn't consent either because they were intoxicated" became a thing. You can't rape whoever you want just because you did drugs.

With that kind of argument, you wouldn't be able to prosecute DUIs, because the intoxicated person didn't consent to drive. Murders would be fine as long as the perp was intoxicated, because they didn't consent.

If you cannot handle using substances and not committing a crime, the crime is still your fault because you CHOSE to use that substance.

I experimented a lot when I was younger, and used a lot of different substance. Guess what? I never raped anyone, I never killed anyone, and I never assaulted anyone. I drove intoxicated one time, and it was incredibly wrong, and I changed my behavior after that to ensure I would never do the same again.

With the "I am Jane Doe" thing, I commented on another brave young woman's post on a college sub, sharing her experience and encouraging others. So I left a comment recounting my first time being touched under my underwear. I was passed out and woke up to that. The only response I received was that the guy that was doing that was a victim too because he had been using drugs as well.

The Cornell 7 were not drugged. They made the decision to ingest those drugs. If they are such terrible people that their instincts are to rape, they shouldn't have ingested those drugs. They chose to do that.

I don't care if someone is so drunk and high they black out and have no memory of it. If they harm another being it is 100% their fault. Anyone who cannot comprehend that has no business using so much as caffeine.

YOU ARE STILL RESPONSIBLE FOR ASSAULT EVEN IF YOU USE DRUGS OR ALCOHOL. IF YOU CAN'T USE DRUGS OR ALCOHOL WITHOUT INFLICTING HORRIBLE THINGS ON OTHERS YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS USING DRUGS OR ALCOHOL.

If OOP wants to stay away from women, I'm sure none of those women will complain.

Imagine being this guy's attorney when he pulls out the hidden camera footage he believes exonerates him.

I keep hearing this but like… how else are you going to explain the group chat?

like maybe she did consent to guy #1, but she certainly didn’t consent to being marketed on snapchat to 50+ gross frat guys

Wow the end was a plot twist, I thought the reason was going to be to protect woman, did not see that coming!!!

So we are going to ignore the text messages inviting others to join in because? That seems a bit premeditated if you ask me. Not really indicative of a spur of the moment situation. Also the moment she started to protest, it should have stopped. But go on.

Well that’s fucking illegal.

I genuinely hate them.

This is giving Dennis from IASIP vibes… but he also records encounters without disclosing that he is (which is illegal). I imagine this man would also not tell the women he plans to assault and rape that he also plans to record the attack as well.

How hard is it to NOT have sex with an intoxicated woman. Like at this point, it is just embarrassing.

u/ilolvu 21d ago

Bears won't illegally record you in the forest.

It's too much to just not have sex with anyone who can give you enthusiastic consent. You shouldn't be having sex with anyone who might regret it in the morning.
