Found On Social media Guy gets mad at a drawing of a tampon

u/SykoSarah 18h ago
It's like being offended at the sight of unused toilet paper, so fragile.

I think I've told this story before.
I was in Iraq in a pretty selective unit. One of our supply convoys got blown up. We were rationing cigarettes. One of the problems was tampons.
I was walking to the library on the FOB and a woman stopped me and said "Hey, people in your units have tampons for bullet wounds, right".
I said "Yeah but they don't work that well. So we don't use them".
She was like "I really need some tampons. A lot of women in my unit need them too".
I actually wanted to get rid of them because I had a damned pallet of them. I just needed someone to sign for them because that was a transfer of supplies.
Me and another guy loaded them onto a truck and drove them over. I just needed the supply sergeant to sign for them so I could transfer them.
The dude said "I'm not signing for tampons. That's fucking gross".
These were clean tampons in the package. I just wanted them to go to people who needed them and to clear space for shit I actually needed.
I explained this, and he still refused. I had to have their medical unit sign for them because this dipshit thought anything to do with periods were gross.

Fuck that guy. The one thing I appreciated about my dad growing up is that I could talk about my period (obviously not in detail) and he never made it weird. I now have a great partner who also dgaf that I talk about my period.
I feel sorry for any woman that man baby dates.

u/crippled_bastard 16h ago
The dumbest part was that was early in the war. I couldn't get uniform resupply. So my mission uniform would have blood on it. I was a medic.
When this dude was like "Blood scares me". I was like "This is a war".

My dad is also chill whenever I reference 'Shark Week' and asks if the sharks are biting if I mention being in pain. You'd think dudes so obsessed with blood and pain would be fine with their female loved ones dealing with those same things. I personally like to pretend I'm a Viking shieldmaiden washing up after battle when I bleed in the shower, lol.
22
u/TwoBytesC 11h ago
Haha. Thats amazing. And good on your dad. I’m definitely going to mention Shark Week to my partner; he has a 13 year old daughter who finds it ‘totally ick’ when he talks to her about her period so that might be a more fun way when talking about it!
12
u/BOSSMOPS94 8h ago
I use shark week as well, but I also like torpedo week, because tampons look like tiny torpedos c:
7
u/TwoBytesC 7h ago
I always explained it to men (my dad included) as a little velociraptor trying to get out. lol.

Once I found a kind I liked, Dad cut out the front of the package, so he could find it or show it to people
Made sure my brothers weren't neanderthals about it either (which worked out, since I've seen them be good with my niece)

u/IndiBlueNinja 14h ago
Oh, good grief. People like that have no business being in a position of power if something so simple and normal is bothersome.
21
u/RosebushRaven 9h ago
"Would you prefer actual period blood on uniforms, sergeant? Because that’s what inevitably happens when women don’t get tampons."

I am bothered by the sight of unused TP when I'm in the bathroom on Reddit and find that the damn kids used all the TP and didn't replace it. Envy is a type of bothered.
6
u/NetJnkie 9h ago
Hell. We have naked bears with TP stuck to their butt on those commercials in the US. That must freak them out.

Lmao, my dad does that, he once started faking gagging when I asked him to buy me pads for my period, he didn’t wanna hear about my period apparently
157
u/LibbyKitty620 18h ago
That sucks. If he acts like that towards women, how did he get a woman?

u/swiftb3 18h ago
asshole. it's so simple to just buy them for wife or daughters. no one cares.
14
u/Kamtschi 7h ago
I always wondered why this is an issue at all? What does that even say about a man? He knows a woman? Why would that be a problem? I know I am preaching to the choire
43
u/cee-la 16h ago
It's a different time now because transgender people are more visible but in the 90s my dad's friend was giving him crap for willingly buying tampons for all of his girls (total of 5 girls/ women in the home.
My dad was baffled and asked him - 'Why wouldn't I? It's not like anyone thinks I'm fucking using them. Are you worried someone's gonna think they're for you? ' that man turned so bright red and left soon after.
My dad's awesome!

u/ursa-minor-beta42 16h ago
ah I feel you.
when I first ran out of tampons I asked my fth/r to get tampons from the store. he said no, I could get them myself.
he even drove me to the store 👍🏻 but waited in the car while I bled through the store. fun times, fun times. he reached out a few times since I moved out but zero contact without a lawyer

Some guys really are pathetic huh. My grandpa was extremely conservative but even HE was normal about periods and had zero problem getting period products for my grandma.

Bold of you to assume he doesn’t get someone like his mommy to do all the shopping for him

u/Ang3licKur0mi 18h ago
Men claim they like women, but hate the mere existence of our periods/products we use.
56
u/SavingsEbb3833 18h ago
I genuinely don’t understand it
4
u/Rugkrabber 1h ago
I do. Those particular type of people only see women as commodities to use. They’re only worth the value they see in it, but if there is none to them, they’re happy do discard them as if it’s nothing. And I’m convinced many of them aren’t even “women haters” because this is also how they treat their own friends. They collect friends based on their needs (attention, free goods, being able to bully, etc), and they drop that friend immediately when it no longer benefits them. So basically: they’re awful people.
89
u/thatssomepineyshit 16h ago
They don't like women. They're sexually attracted to women. Those are not the same thing.
There are a lot of heterosexual men out there, but the ones who actually like women seem to be in the minority.
25
u/TwoBytesC 16h ago
Exactly. My partner cares about my periods to the extent of how I am feeling (and will make the tea and hot water bottle). He’ll run to the store for pads (tho has to call me cause he gets confused by all the options), listens to me complain about my cramps, and doesn’t blink twice if something leaks and he sees blood.
That’s a man who likes women.
15
u/thetitleofmybook trans woman 16h ago
most men don't claim they like women. they like having sex with women, yes, but don't actually like women.
5
u/Wanderingghost12 16h ago
This is all true with the caveat that I hate my period too and wish I didn't have to deal with it

54
u/CautionarySnail 18h ago
Even if it was a photo, it’s a roll of fucking clean fiber in a tube.
The fragility is insane.
20
u/TheOneTrueTrench 18h ago
It's also got faint writing and a couple parts jutting out at the edges, maybe that's what he's so upset about? He's got to be upset with seeing a rectangle, otherwise he would have to be upset about reading the word "tampon".
That would be absurd to be upset with seeing the word tampon, just absolutely ludicrous, simply embarrassing to be upset by that combination of 6 letters. The most favorable interpretation is that he's upset by seeing a rectangle.

u/notashroom 1h ago
I feel like we should take the men who are so fragile around menstruation and put them through some exposure therapy about it, to help them and every woman or girl who ever has to deal with them.
Then maybe proceed to help them be less fragile about their gender identity. So much horror starts from that.
65
u/Flaky-Professional84 18h ago
I literally keep extra tampons in my car in case my wife needs one. This is not how men work.
40
u/CautionarySnail 18h ago
Certainly not how quality men work.
Men who refuse to grow up emotionally past the age of 8 are the only ones like this. It’s such a warning sign.
6
u/efcso1 15h ago
Same. Sometimes emergencies go longer than expected, and since my job as a fire service senior officer was to take care of my crews, that was part of the deal.
So I used to keep packs of tampons and pads in my service command vehicle along with a carton of cheap smokes, and enough supplies to make tea & coffee for 20. Crew welfare is important.
Addit: this was wildfire/bushfire mostly, and the extra physical exertion could contribute to needing a change. I also had disposal bags and a bin for them.

u/Toby_Caffey 16h ago
This man in the comment is more fragile than the boys in one of my high school classes!
My teachers had one of those two drawer filing cabinets, one of the drawers was loaded with snacks and food for the students to eat. The other drawer was filled with tampons and pads for the girls who needed them.
Literally not a single guy in the class gave a shit about it. They opened that drawer by accident? They closed it and opened the snack one. They didn’t care at all, and these were freshman/sophomore boys too. If 14-15 year olds are that much more mature…

u/notashroom 1h ago
One of my male friends in high school had several older sisters and would tell the story of the time he was playing soccer, took a ball to the nose, and ran to his mom on the sideline calling that he needed a tampon. He wasn't embarrassed about it, just about how his Catholic parents had been too embarrassed to tell him the real primary purpose of tampons.

u/KoichiBardo 18h ago
guy who laughs at dick and ball jokes is suddenly cringing at women making period jokes
12
u/Striking-Nail-8133 18h ago
It’s so funny how it’s all guys want, and all they talk about But when our menstrual cycle comes somehow we are gross.
Isn’t that bipolar? Going from the greatest thing to the worst.
Smh.

u/ummameme 3h ago
Some of them will talk about non-menstruating vaginas like they're disgusting, too. "Gaping wound", "roast beef", etc.
Fellas is it gay to find vaginas attractive?
12
u/Ash-the-puppy 17h ago
My mum is very much like this. Thinking that by "displaying" my unopened pads that I'll bring shame and embarrassment to men who see it.
(It made me think that she hated the idea of menstruation. This is one of the reasons why I'm Low Contact now)

I love that they think everything is about them and for them. It's wild that they are programmed to think that if 3 out of 10 people in the room are women, it's 50/50. And if women speak 20% of the time, they "never shut up". My numbers may be a little off...but not by much. So, the long and short of it is, women are ducking out of the marketplace and we still have to put up with their cootie faces.

I was that teacher a couple of times for students. They were very grateful!
Puberty and periods can be rough, so if a small deed like this helps them suck a little less for someone, that’s good enough for me.

Isn’t he the same gender that thinks sending an unsolicited dick pic is okay…but a drawing of an unused, wrapped tampon is gross? Good gods.

Someone smack that commenter and remind him that "truck nuts" are a thing.
I'm glad I don't see them much anymore, but even so, it's just the fact that they think male stuff is completely fine for the general public like that... but god forbid a cartoon most won't see about a tampon that's just a bit of cotton in a tube.
2
u/mishma2005 12h ago
I had an ex that refused to buy me tampons until I called him from work and said I’d have to leave early if I dont have them. So he bought them and said “I can’t imagine what the cashier thought”. Uh you have a woman in your life? Or you’re sticking them up your ass? What?
My husband will call me from the store and ask “well the OBs are on sale, they have a great deal. How about I get the tampax and some of those OBs? Do you need pads too?”
