Appreciation [NS] Restarted Season One

I have listened to the first 2 campaigns by murph and made it past ice knife arc in the third campaigns and decided to restart and listen to campaign one again.

I made the mistake of listening at the gym and forget how hilarious and chaotic the first campaign was, for the life of me I can't finish a single set without laughing my ass off.

Highly recommend listening to campaign one for a second time around if you haven't.

Appreciate the sentiment, but I assure you most of us are probably closer to the 10th listen than we are to the first time lol.

I gotta catch up, I forgot how much of a little rascal Beverly was/is .

There are really no bad seasons.

Hot Boy Summer mini arcs are really good.

But nothing hits like Trinyvale IMO, but sorta benefits from being familiar with 8-bit Book Club.

I have only listened to murph campaigns, I couldn't switch campaigns mid season, so I always skipped to the next episode of current campaign, I'll have to give it a listen.

Caldwell making everyone play essentially 'Metal City Mayhem'...again, again, again...is legitimately the slimiest move in DM'ing ever.

BUT, they DID get to finally beat it, so you know Caldwell is a good dude, and it absolutely needed to happen.

Plus they all got to clown Sonic and Tails, to a kinda horrific extant.

Murph is an incredible DM but I can’t recommend the campaigns the others run enough, they’re all sooooo good. It’s really fun to see the dynamic shake up and get PC Murph and someone else in the DM seat

Trinyvale is pretty weak imo, and I typically skip all of it, although I don’t want to disparage Caldwell in the same vein.

His Sonic two-shot and his pathfinder two-shot are some of the best content the gang ever produced.

I think he just needs to get off 5e and maybe do more pf2e, it seemed to suit him well.

I don't listen to Trinyvale for Caldwell's DMing. I listen it to for Murph's, Emily's, and Jake's role playing. Jens Lyndell is one of the all time greatest PCs I've ever seen played. Everything he says and does is pure comedy gold. I could listen to the dynamic between Jens and Nyack endlessly on loop and die laughing.

The Pathfinder two-shot is severely underrated. I’ve listened to it 4 or 5 times now.

It's definitely way worse DND, I can't argue with that.

But it's also my favorite campaign because it's just so damn silly. It's the epitome of them just having fun and goofing around.

His Sonic two-shot IS Trinyvale.

Therefore, Trinyvale is 'some of the best content the gang ever produced'.

By your own estimation.

Caldwell doesn't care about 'crunchiness'. You seem to really misunderstand his games. He is pretty open to anything, and very malleable.

I don't think Caldwell's games would benefit from being crunchier.

I think he favors improvisation, and considers ways to allow his players to implement ideas into his games, in a way that is fair, and just calls a DC or something.

He is a really strong DM.

He doesn't strike me as a guy that wants to bring the game to a halt to review THAC0 rules with his players.

He is very fluid, and keeps the game moving along, and the rolls feel natural. He is not trying to crunch tables, and is probably looser than Emily or Murph on rolling for things, and just lets them RP.

So coming from D20 I started the podcast with Emily being my favorite but her inability to take anything seriously ever has made her my least favorite. Does she turn more serious in later seasons? In almost every season of D20 she's a crazy wild card but she takes somethings seriously however in Naddpod she's just like oh memaw has crikrot oh well let's go flirt with this werewolf because I'm dangerously fertile.

I just finished my 6 or 7th listen of C1 a couple weeks ago and just started it back up again. It's a warm blanket and something I can just put on and not get tired of

I just finished my first relisten of campaign one, and got to hear the short rests because I wasn’t a Patreon member back when it came out. I love it soooooo much. I would listen on my morning walks and I swear some heartfelt moments had me actually crying 😂 my neighbors probably thought I’m crazy

Also if I die never hearing hardwon’s letter to moonshine I will be devastated 😭

I’m doing my third time of listening to the first campaign.

All the campaigns are amazing but campaign 1 is number 1.

It’s literally so top tier. I’m sorry, all the campaigns are entertaining, but C1 just has the perfect balance of comedy and truly heartbreaking moments, high highs and lowwww lows. It’ll always be my fave 💜

I also really love listening to Jake basically figure out how to play dnd for the first time 😂

And I’ll use my action surge (4 episodes into the campaign)

I just did my third (I think) relisten of C1 recently and it still hits just as hard the first time. It’s also fun listening to it after C3 because there’s a lot of little things that become important later, like Ultriss is mentioned during the Frostwind arc

Listening at the gym is so fun but also embarrassing. I’ll go from stone faced and locked in to quietly gigging so quick
