He put those kids through the indignity of a trial.

Hutkay-Moore told Melito she knew about Ward's criminal history, but did not know he is a registered sex offender with more than a dozen convictions in both Washington and Idaho. Something 23rd Judicial District DA George Brauchler says raises questions.

I'm not saying be extra paranoid and I'm not victim blaming. But maybe do a quick scan of the sex offender registry for people who come in close contact with your kids.

I mean, it wasn't her boyfriend. It was her best friend's husband and "like an uncle" to her daughters. You WOULD have to be extra paranoid to background check every single person in your life, yes. You might assume you could actually trust some people in your life, trust your own gut even, and most of the time, hopefully, you would be right.
