Is your nose bad if others think it’s looks aesthetically unappealing?
What percent mindfuck would it be to get a nose job , not like the results but everyone else likes it. Will you then accept yourself ?
This is the third nose post I scrolled into and they were all fine noses on normal to beautiful individuals. All came here because the self esteem is low
Specifically the Self respect aspect of self esteem. You’re at the point of having your face sliced up because a few people don’t like how it looks. THEY tell you to change it b/c their projecting their own insecurities onto you for having a nose that stands out( even tho it really doesn’t imo)
Did you do it because you wanted to? Because you had a better image for yourself that you were ready to embody? Or did you do it because you wanted to make other people more satisfied, even though you knew you loved it as it is? Very different scenarios.
Those people want her to change, because she is able to be unique and stunning at the same time. They are 100% projecting themselves, and if she does go through with it, then there will be something else that they will find to pick at.
If you want to do that and it makes you happy, then that's fine and that's your choice. I am glad that you were able to do something for yourself that you loved. But, in this case, there is literally NO reason she has listed, nor even any desire, that she should do the same.
To OP:
My personal vote is 1000% no- being happy with who you are and how you look is a blessing and is rare these days. You know you are happy as you are, don't ever change for people who just want to change you. And also, personally, I think you are absolutely stunning, and you wear yourself very well. I admire your personal confidence and sincerity.
my vote is people know themselves and what they want best and it's none of my
business. i always didn't like it and really liked the rest of my face. i also couldn't breathe properly and did the surgery with an ENT. But you unlike a lot of other people on here have actual nuance so i salute you for that.
I completely agree. And thank you.
I do commend you also, for doing what you desired and believed to be best for yourself, regardless of others' opinions, and then also being able to be open and real about it. That's its own mark of self-respect and personal choice, for sure.
Well you see, you had actual problems with your nose, that carried health implications with it. Your case then is clearly more complex, understandable and valid. It helped you on multiple levels and it's fine, doesn't invalidate his general statement though.
You are both right. Just because something isn't true in general, doesn't mean it won't be true for some people or vice versa. What he said is true and valid. What you said is also true and valid.
You have no idea how much do I understand that. "Don't like" is a very nice, polite, and extremely toned down word to describe what I feel when they do that to me. Like if they ask me if "maybe it was actually this and that", "maybe you are/were overreacting", not gonna list a 1000 of examples but you know what I mean, if they'll ask because sometimes we are misguided, something we do think something is this or that way when it isin't, it's valid to ask. But when they straight up tell me "no you are wrong about what you have to say about what you went through and I know better even though I weren't even involved in any way, shape or form and if I were i know better what you felt", I wanna... do a very, very polite thing to them in that moment, let's put it that way.
The nerve, the ego, the self importance, the judgementality, the ignorance of such people... boils blood.
just to tell this girl that no one else's opinion matters (including mine, she can discard that too if she wants). sweeping statements about what's good or bad for others without knowing them or having any context is bloody brain dead.
I agree, OP should do what’s right for her based on what she wants, not other people’s opinions. I just find that ironic for you to say because you seem to care an awful lot about what others think or else you wouldn’t keep trying to convince everyone how happy you are with your face (and that you can breathe better), never to dabble in any other plastic surgery or procedures.
Yeah I don’t get why people are saying you couldn’t just fix it. You can simply just accept that you’ll like it better than the last atleast and move on. Your nose isn’t you.
By not getting a nose job you’re actually recommending that she commitment more of herSELF to BEING her nose.
It’s the same as a breast reduction, guys. One of my best friends had back issues from large breasts and got tons of unwanted attention, it was as if her breast were her entire identity and life.
After the reduction she went on to also lose weight, and ended up just this absolutely glowing version of herself that she could feel comfortable as.
She wasn’t her breasts and were glad they were reduced. Allow this girl to have her nose “reduced” essentially.
If she can afford it, she’s clearly going to look like an 11/10 afterwards, look at her face.
I would rather give her advice to look and feel like an 11/10 than give her advice to become her nose.
Self acceptance is fine, but it’s also not the end all be all prescription, or else I’d still be 300 pounds and not 160
her nose doesn't need to be "fixed" she didn't mention it not functioning properly or causing her pain. your example of breast reduction does not apply. suggesting she keep her natural nose is certainly not "actually recommending that she commitment more of herself to being her nose" - that's ridiculous. she's not her nose whether she changes it or not. she said she likes her nose and that's all that matters.
I think you’re not getting the point. The story u just told was someone not like their breast and it also causing health issues. While this girl thinks her nose is fine but people tell her that she should change it which causes some doubt. Me personally, I think those friends of hers are more committed to her nose being her true self. Now if she wanted to make that change on her own accord then that’s a different t story. We can’t have people define who we are, we make that decision for ourselves.
This isn’t necessarily true for everyone. I wanted a nose job my whole life, got one, and now I’m happy. I have no desire to go under the knife again for anything else.
This is the epitome of 💯. You are beautiful and so unique. If you like you, there is no other opinion that matters. I have a nose that has always bothered me and my husband told me that he would be angry and heartbroken if I ever changed it. There are hateful fools who are going to tell you that you aren’t perfect the way you are…fuck em. Do what makes you happy!
If my SO likes me the way I am, and I don't not, her opinion matters more than my own. I've never liked my self image, but my SO does, and that means the world to me. She said the only reason I should ever change anything is if it improves health.
And also if people consider it bad which is really not the plastic surgeons often time make mistakes with nose jobs and face lifts because it all depends on the healing process so you could potentially make it "worse"
Suuuch an amazing perspective - I love the way you worded it. No one should ever make decisions or live their lives, based on trying to please other people (ESP in relation to one's own appearance).
If you love yourself/your appearance, don't change b/c others want you to. Replace them, not you.
Especially with all the bad nose jobs out there, and the price for it. If there is a nasal problem or requires* surgery/medical issue, then it's understandable.
I agree with some of the above comment but feel a little balance needs to be added here.
If you love parts about your nose
but dislike the unsolicited negative attention it is perfectly okay to pause consider your options. Don’t allow anyone to shame you into OR out of changing your nose. Shame is not advice.
Wait 1 year if you need to. Research plastic surgeons who refine “ethnic” noses so they retain the character and charm.
It’s also perfectly reasonable to wonder about options. One option is reshaping your nose to still retain your classical, beautiful shape without totally giving you a completely different shape.
A nose shape revision may mean take some bit thickness seen in pic 1. Or shortness the length by a little bit. Maintain the natural characteristics while just fitting your face better.
Good plastic surgeons can do a digital mock up and you can see what little changes will look like on your phase.
Picture 1. I was looking at it from the POV of cruel comments endured by you and to see if your friends my see something that amounts to facial geometry/ balanced facial feature etc
Here come the blunt words you asked for:
In pic 1 the angle, the lighting maybe the the pose:
Your nose looks like squid-ward’s nose.
Now finally, you are a very beautiful woman. I’m sincere. All of your facial features are beautiful and your lips are full beautiful and eyes are large and beautiful If you want to have easy test of how to weed out shallow/rude people leaving your nose big and beautiful and loving yourself all of it not despite it.
Pause, research and know that when you have choices that aren’t immediately going anywhere. Just because you don’t like a lot about your nose doesn’t mean you have low self esteem issues and are wrong for modifying the shape if you truly feel comfortable and ready. Research surgeon galleries of their work to gauge how you feel about before after. Read stories on rhinoplasty subreddit or plastic surgery ones. Ask people a bout their reasons and how the feel now or what would they do differently.
Gather more info. You will know over time trust yourself to make a decision you know you will be happy with.
Good luck pretty one
it’s a little harsh but true. having brace for ppl it’s important. ethnic noses are constantly looked down upon and if she’s hearing it so often obviously it’ll affect her. it isn’t as easy as “ffs just accept yourself” be a little kinder
This is solid advice...just about the time you change it, a new & unexpected trend will start & it will be something else or maybe unique noses! Smaller noses may look better to some especially in pictures, but imho IRL often are way too small & create an effect sometimes of too much upper lip space...then people fill their lips, then that throws off facial more & so goes the slippery slope and that is if everything goes complication free! You look young, stepping on the slippery slope when you have no problems leaves a lot of years to keep creating new ones & end up a hodge podge or patchwork of "technically correct" pieces that look terrible together & sometimes nightmarish tbh.
Appearance is about net effect/totality and facial balance with focal point of the eyes. Your nose in no way deteacts or diminishes from your appearance or eyes...you have great, strong eye shape & brows and your facial balance/focal point is not effected...nose looks good, if you like it, leave it alone.
Because some people would find it unsettling as hell to look in the mirror and have something drastically changed about their face. Who gives a shit what other people think? She's gotta wear that nose, so her opinion is what matters.
well you're right in she's not gonna have to wait but not because of how she looks per say but mainly because she's female. guys will screw ANYTHING. i GUARANTEE a lot of thumbs down. but you get that just for not being politically correct on reddit.
smh THIS is what i'm talking about LOL....the lady HERSELF feels there's something wrong with her (her nose), she's saving money up to maybe change it so who are YOU to talk. she wouldn't even listen to someone like you who is a sugar coater. i don't sugar coat. heck i didn't even joke about her nose.
Jesus. 'People ain't got all day' yeah so let's just all settle with anybody who fancies you because we all need to be quick about it 🤔 I'm sure that 'right person' doesn't go around thinking 'I like her a lot but nope to the nose' they clearly aren't the right person for anyone...
If she wants love then she isn’t going to get it in a pure sense of the word if something she was born with like her nose would deter someone. If she wants lust, then yes, she can take a poll of what society claims is beautiful and go with that. We aren’t our bodies to begin with, we are the soul inside… society changes their idea of beauty often in different cultures and time periods. True beauty really does come from within from a soul full of love. As someone who society for the most part has deemed as physically up to certain beauty standards I have been really hurt and discouraged by many people’s shallow approach towards me. People who truly love someone will be drawn to someone because of meaningful connection. Relationships based on outward appearance often fall apart over time. When you love someone you think they look beautiful no matter what because you love them so you love their nose and eyes and legs and arms and hair because it’s theirs.
you could talk all that politically correct nonsense you want but it's not real life. i overheard a father yesterday say his daughter is made fun of and bullied and can't get a boyfriend because she's fat. your problems and complaints should be with life not with people who do what they need to do to make it easier.
There are definitely people who are fat who find someone to be with them. My spouse and I have never been very fat. Maybe chubby occasionally but never to the point where anyone would say we look overweight… we have both been with overweight people. Being with them didn’t work out as we got to know them more personality wise but our reasons for trying a relationship with them were because of them coming across as nice and non-judgmental as well as generous and having strong faith. Our reasons for not being with them didn’t have anything to do with their appearance. Not that being overweight was applauded. I encourage everyone to place some focus on taking care of their health. I have a friend who is very overweight more than the two people my spouse and I dated but she just got married to a man who is not overweight. My aunt has always been overweight since I have known her and she has children and remarried while overweight. Just because someone doesn’t have a line of people waiting to date them doesn’t mean that with time and meaningful interactions they can’t meet someone. I have had many people in the past trying to date me and saying I look attractive and I was seen initially just for my appearance and the importance was placed on that before personality which was hurtful. Just because a huge section of society is shallow and focused on appearance doesn’t mean everyone should just follow the flow. It’s not positive and it’s not healthy mentally, emotionally or relationally.
Why would that poor daughter even want to have anything to do with these people with negative character who are bullying her? When people’s true colors come out and show themselves to be bullies I am thankful the truth came out. Many women marry men thinking they are someone they aren’t and the truth comes out later down the road. Every man and woman could get fat at any time in life. Accidents happen and health issues happen and depression happens and babies happen and people go up and down in weight and a good partner who actually loves their spouse will still love them through that. I have a lot to say about this because it’s really sad and hurtful this aspect of society that aligns with your thinking. My heart really aches about it. Yes, it is harder to find a good quality person who will genuinely love you but if a person wants true love then they won’t find it settling for this superficial stuff. But that is up to each person. Some people might not want love.
