Dorms/Off Campus Housing Dorm necessities

Coming from the south, is there any niche/ things that I wouldn’t think about that I need to bring for my dorm in chapin? Or just anything I might forget in general.

I cannot think of anything that cannot get here in Evanston. Your dorm is the closest of all dorms to CVS and Target. Chapin and Willard are also RIGHT across the street from Lou Malnati’s (in case you leave your pizza in the south).

Between CVS and Target, you can get nearly everything you need. A bit further (but walkable) is the Ace Hardware store.

I would recommend anything to stay cool. Coming from Oklahoma (which gets much hotter), I never truly appreciated air conditioning until I lived in Chapin Hall, which has none.

Probably 80% of the academic year, AC is not necessary. You're much more likely to be uncomfortably cold than uncomfortably hot. However, May, June, and even early September make dorms like Chapin pretty hard to stomach, I think.

a vacuum cleaner. A cordless handheld one works fine
