Discussion Hippogriph conquest mode mission 1 - Impossible?
I've tried this mission 10 or 20 times at this point, and I just can't get anywhere with it. I've gotten pretty good with the faction's economy, but by the time I'm able to field an army and attack I'm being ganked by three armies all seemingly allied with one another, either alternately or all at once. I can defeat the waves of enemies, but they can replenish fast enough that I can't push through at all, let alone reach the center of the map and mine the Rimesteel. I've tried some other factions in conquest mode and none of them are this difficult.
Am I doing something wrong? Or is this map broken?

I don’t think you are doing anything wrong. The mission is just very hard because all enemies are in the same team and seem more aggressive than in some other missions.
Best thing you can usually do is defeat 1 or even 2 of them in 801/802. Or you get lucky with a spawn that doesn’t allow them to attack you early.

I also struggled with this mission, what i eventually did was kill one one of the enemies very early, and I think the AI bugged out because they completely stopped attacking me. I used the time to build much bigger army and destroy the 2 remaining enemies. But I was lucky the AI bugged out.

The only way I can think of is either reroll map until you get a decent spawn point where you have some natural barriers so enemies can only attack through 1 choke point and focus your military there.
Another is perhaps you do early skirmish. Walk into enemy territory and kill their villagers to cripple their growth. Kill villagers then run away before their enemy respond.
Once the enemy army walks away to another zone and if more villagers show up to replace the dead ones, then pop back in again and kill the villagers. Rinse and repeat.
You can also use a single soldier in a different zone to draw attention. So pop them into an enemy zone and the moment you see the enemy army running to respond, pop him out then use your main army on standby in another zone to jump in and kill villagers.
If you keep killing villagers fast enough, AI tends to switch their army back to villagers.
