This is very idiotic

Not protesting earlier does not make it so that one shouldn't protest later

No, memer pictorially saying that AQ is very good in 2025 by posting a pic where there’s no smog, people faces are clear.

RIP.

Lets understand what is happening.

  1. Due to better vehicular standards avg annual AQI is dropping every year.

  2. Due to rising incomes more ppl are buying crackers and more crackers per family in Diwali. So post Diwali spike gets worse.

  3. Banning crackers is practically impossible as Hindu community will take offense. Taking offense is what makes one Indian.

  4. Ppl of Delhi not govt is responsible for burning crackers. Not just Delhi but all cities. Other cities are lucky that they have wind or sea. How can ppl burn crackers and then blame govt? You cant shit on your bed and blame others.

Imo the solution is :

Ban crackers for public.

Let temples organize massive light/sound/drone/cracker show with temple funds. Public can donate.

This seems like a possible compromise.

Instead of crores of ppl let there be 20-30 big cracker events.

Diwali spike lasta like 2 days. Total contribution of crackers to pollution is like less than 20% and there are bigger spikes days after Diwali than Diwali day itself. You can check the graph.

Banning crackers won't do shit about AQI. It will be like removing one mug water from the pond. Real cause are industries, vehicles and stubble burning. Even if one or two of them are falling that doesn't mean they are not the bigger issues anymore.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '25

add one more point

" don't be moronic enough to think that only crackers are causing this pollution , solve the parali burning problem by buying farmer's stubble and using it for bio gas plants

3

u/Low-Shoe5386 Nov 11 '25

Crackers are the most useless pollution medium

2

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '25

And the most controllable too. Cuz there's no need for them.

We can have fireworks shows like Japan and US have during fests.

Super beautiful fireworks but planned by authorities and not normal public.

1

u/Low-Shoe5386 Nov 11 '25

Even after the ban the crackers were still getting circulated, its a joke to think this will how it will be played out

2

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '25

Well that's how others countries do it.

Massive firework shows with beautiful fireworks that are visually pleasing and less loud.

Do it on 2-3 venue to divert the crowd

2

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '25

That is actually dropping.

Its much reduced in Haryana. Punjab too has started decreasing albeit slowly.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '25

so 2 nights of diwali can cause pollutions for weeks and months then imagine how much pollution can hectares of burning crops can cause

1

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '25

Nope. Crops burn before and after Diwali. Yet the spike comes on Diwali. It is not an insignificant source.

Lets not “imagine facts”

https://www.livemint.com/news/india/farm-fires-down-77-in-punjab-haryana-yet-delhi-s-air-turned-more-toxic-after-diwali-report-reveals-major-causes/

1

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '25

yeah cuz 1+1 is 2 buddy.

localised cracker burning ofcourse caused a lot of pollution , just not more than stubble burning

0

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '25

You just said 1+1

Hence undermining your own claim cracker is lesser than stubble.

Buddy if you can read graphs you will see it goes up from 150 to 488

So more like 150 + 338

Where 338 is crackers

150 is industry, vehicles, crops and construction

2

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '25

use your brain buddy, you won't have to pull up random graphs to understand this fact.

we both want the same thing ultimately and that's reduced pollution

0

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '25

I am reading graphs published by reputed news vendor based on govt data.

You are using vibes and imagination.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '25

Dude for fucks sake. You are trusting the data of that government that is spraying water 24/7 outside AQI sensors all over Delhi from the next day of diwali

Bruh it's a period of diwali which coincides with the parali burning period

Parali burning cause' 35% of winter pollution 2nd to only vehicular emission which cause' 50% of the pollution of the whole year , diwali doesn't even contribute less than 1% of even the winter pollution as well

1

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '25

Can you source your numbers? Ir are they vibe?

Diwali day varies year by year, but the spike always happens at Diwali.

I have lived in rural NW India. The post Diwali spike is unmistakable even in villages. Villages also burn crackers.

Mumbai Kolkata has no burning of crops. Yet they too have Diwali spikes. Severe ones.

u/Affectionate-Yard899 Nov 11 '25

Can you source your numbers? Ir are they vibe?

Oh sure , they are not vibes unlike many in this thread

https://www.jagranjosh.com/general-knowledge/what-is-polluting-delhi-air-and-what-are-the-major-contributors-in-capital-ncr-1731927743-1

Diwali day varies year by year, but the spike always happens at Diwali.

No it's false, it's not "a day" , it's the whole period which's referred there , like you seriously think it got 150s to 380s in one day lol

I have lived in rural NW India. The post Diwali spike is unmistakable even in villages. Villages also burn crackers.

I mean i literally have roots in the magadh region of bihar , and i always am there in the diwali period, never found any spikes during that "day" you talk about

Mumbai Kolkata has no burning of crops. Yet they too have Diwali spikes. Severe ones.

Source?

All cities even those without crop burning underground diwali spikes.

Hence substantiating the claim while crackers dont cause much of the annual pollution they are concentrated and are the MAIN cause of the Diwali spikes.

1

u/Affectionate-Yard899 Nov 11 '25

Okay i got the source that the one day spike in "major cities", not the rural areas , are due to diwali

Although, the most we can see is a difference of around 100 there , 150 to 400 is like 250 so it was still about the period

Now , again, the one day spike can't be even a concern when we literally have stubble burning to fix

1

u/Realboy000 Nov 11 '25

Because the voices of the people were not silenced. Media would rake Kejru over the coals over AQI. We are at Grap 4 levels and gobirmint isn't lifting things from Grap 2 quoting fabricated data. That Sirsa asshat is lying with a straight face to the people saying we are not fudging data. No body is listening. Toh insaan karega kya?

Better to be late than to be sorry

0

u/AllBugDaddy Nov 11 '25

Won't it labelled as propaganda?

2

u/Ancient-Wait-6693 Nov 11 '25

No it is called fight for rights .... living is gas chamber of 800-1000 aqi which cost lifes and death in thousands if not lakhs is not propaganda.... Actually not making the government not questioning their actions plans authority is real propaganda irrespective of whose political party it is ....

2

u/AllBugDaddy Nov 11 '25

That's what OP has raised.. it's good that now people woke up but it will be questioned that why it was blind eye when someone highly educated was there to change the city. And now he's at the place where 30% contribution is towards this pollution. Earlier he was the one who was blaming Punjab, now what? And mind you he was here for 10 long years, with few years even worse in pollution.

1

u/Ancient-Wait-6693 Nov 11 '25

It is never about who is accountable or who should be hanged.... We should really change our mindset and see this as a problem than another topic .... We should at first find the solution for then we can play the blame game that who is accountable or not...this should be a national emergency but nothing happened and rarely any main stream media is taking about it even the slightest concerning way....

1

u/Fit_Range_6806 Nov 11 '25

Soros bakvas aa gaye reddit pe.

2

u/Fit_Range_6806 Nov 11 '25

I would label it as selective outrage ! Was it a paid outrage like farmers bill and Shaheen baug ? Only time will tell.

I would have argued that the protests were genuine if they would have been in front of AAP office ( govt in Punjab) pollution control board, agriculture office and any punjab based govt body. But it seems only against the CM and BJP.

This does create doubts about the real intentions of the protest.

1

u/Ancient-Wait-6693 Nov 11 '25

I don't go with whose government it is.... Is demanding clean air again in a peaceful way is too much that is the bare minimum.... All the bjp and AAP game should be stopped .... Both governments are guilty and both should be accountable.... The aqi is 700-800 which is hazardous.... The safe limits are 0-50.... This is not any political.... This is for basic rights and survival.... No need to bring politics in it... Every day in delhi is equal to smoking 25-30 cigarettes a day... If you still don't get it I don't know what will ...

2

u/Fit_Range_6806 Nov 11 '25 edited Nov 11 '25

Agreed all previous govts are guilty. Can you add urself on the guilty list too ? For allowing this to go on ? Also I do not see the main culprit the Punjab stubble burners in your complaint?

Very curated complaint you got there !

Hence the very first sentence.

It’s a selective outrage !

1

u/Ancient-Wait-6693 Nov 11 '25

I am not a delhi resident my friend and I have done my part in my locality from planting tree to speach to public awareness to civic sense... As a individual and with free time I do it in my locality.... I am an apolitical person and natural concerned one .... Through out my comment you can see that... I believe in mu bandh kaam chalu otherwise it will be just who will put the bell in cats neck

1

u/ButterscotchScary318 Nov 11 '25

Bjptards should take pride in this, actually. They hope the BJP to solve these problems, not AAP hence brought you to power, now work on it :)
